Body Blitz Spa East

I have been coming to Body Blitz for many years - primarily the West location but unfortunately that has now closed. We have come as a group of 5 today, with one person getting a treatment and the rest doing the waters which are now $85. Overall the experience was much the same as at the west location with helpful staff, nice pools and no rush on your time. I have a few comments for people considering this location: There are a lot of stairs. If you have mobility concerns, this is not the best choice for you. Most people wear swimsuits, some go topless. You must wear bottoms. The cedar sauna was not working when we were there, but I find the cold plunge and the hot tub are a better size here than at the other location. There is a cute lending library for books, and you can still get your juice bar drinks that are as good as always. my main reason for the three stars, is that we came in at 12 and by the time we left at 4, we were all coughing and sniffing as if we have had a bad cold for a few days. Something is not right with the ventilation or the amount of chlorine, something. I have never experienced this the other location, or at indoor pools, etc. I feel better now i’m in the lobby but it was all of us, not just one of us, which gives me concern. Is the building sick? Was the ventilation not working properly? Unsure. I really hope someday Body Blitz opens another location in the west, even Mississauga/Oakville at it would be a hit. I’m not in love with BB East. I attached a few photos from the reception area - phones are not allowed in the spa!
I went to this spa yesterday, a Friday. First off, I had tried to book the waters online, but they do not allow you to book. You can only book ahead if you're having a treatment, like a massage. So, I drove into the city, had lunch with a friend, paid to park on the street and entered the spa. They told me there was a 1.5 hour wait time! That I could put my name on the list. I was furious! Why can't they have us book ahead and pay online to secure our spot? I came from out of town, paid to park, only to find out it was all for not. Anyway, they ended up calling us in 30 mins to tell us we could come back and use their pools. So a lot of drama for nothing. My next and final complaint, is that the change room has a dysfunctional layout. There is no door and they gave us the two lockers (#97 and 95) at the very entry to the change room. Every woman who entered after me had to bump into me to get past. Or ask me to kindly move. There was no bench to sit at to tie up my boots. I'm trying to figure out with they kept the Toronto East location open, when they should have closed it and kept the Toronto West location open. (Also, once at the West location, their steam room was out of order, and as a sorry/thank you they gave us a complimentary drink. Why couldn't this place have offered us a something for our trouble?)
Avoid at all costs. Phone reception never got back to me even after leaving a voicemail, had to call several times to reach someone and by the time I didn’t they didn’t have any registered massage therapists available. Really think they should have an online system. Their outdated booking system should’ve been red flag number 1. They ended up giving me just a massage therapist for a relaxing massage but failed to tell me till after my treatment that it’s not covered by my insurance and can’t issue an insurance receipt. That’s something you don’t gatekeep and disclose prior to. The Water therapies are REALLY LOUD, there is absolutely no noise regulation, my masseuse even told me that she was gonna talk to the manager to see if they could do something about the noise and nothing was done. How can someone relax at a spa if groups of ppl are socializing like a bar scene, when I mentioned this to the front desk they laughed it off. The jacuzzi not very hot whatsoever. Eucalyptus steamer is super nice and is actually a no talking zone, but make sure you call or email ahead to ensure they have it cause some times it doesn’t function. Would defs NOT go again to pay out of pocket for a bad experience. I left feeling more angry than prior to entering.
I went today with a friend and missed the Adelaide location so much. I appreciated everything being on one level at the old location and didn’t love the many stairs or shortage of lounge chairs. Think the seating chairs aren’t as comfortable or used. Also, accessibility wise, I couldn’t dream of bringing my elderly mom sadly. All those stairs. Maybe i missed an elevator but i doubt it. I love body blitz and the idea of wellness with women only but didn’t feel that same spa-like experience - my eyes were burning so much from the main pool. I don’t know what caused that as I’ve never experienced anything like it with any other therapeutic waters. It did make me wonder about the ventilation. Also the eucalyptus steam was really mild if not non-existent. I didn’t experience the strength of a normal steam spa. Sauna was good. Shower drain wasn’t clean. I think with all the wellness spa places in Toronto, this location could use a bit of a refresh, and check on air quality. Sorry this review falls short of what i was hoping for today. On a positive, i didn’t feel rushed or unwelcome.
I’ve booked three appointments with Body Blitz over the past three months, and every single one has either been cancelled, moved to a different time, or had the treatment time shortened because they couldn’t accommodate the original booking. I purposely book appointments well in advance to secure the time I want, but despite this, the appointments continue to be changed at the last minute. The reception experience has also been disappointing. The staff have come across as unwelcoming and not particularly helpful—during my last visit I wasn’t even given shoes to change into, which is not the level of service you’d expect given the price. I’ve actually had great experiences with the treatments themselves, but ultimately decided to stop coming because they can’t reliably commit to their bookings. Despite being inconvenienced three times in a short period, the most that’s been offered is a free drink and a $25 credit. If you don’t have a flexible schedule and are really looking forward to your treatment, I would recommend booking elsewhere.
