Comox Valley Sports Centre

An older lady who was working there was incredibly rude and kicked us out(mind you its winter and incredibly cold) when we were waiting for someone to pick us up. On top of that we tried to explain our situation politely she simply said "I dont care, get out". We were not rude in anyway or being disruptive, just trying to escape the cold weather while we wait. Please be kinder to the young people, I know there are some bad eggs but there are young kids who are struggling and just need a place to wait for half an hour. My sister was upset and just had a panic attack and was waiting for our mother to come get her.
The Sports Centre Complex is right next to the Athletics Track plus a few other Sports Fields, as well as Vanier Secondary School, which has an additional number of Sports Fields. We visit the Tartan Athletics Track here quite regularly for some workouts (maybe not often enough 🙃), this being the only facility of its kind in the Valley - see also Vanier Oval Track & Field Facility. Inside the Complex, there are 2 Skating Rinks, a small Fitness Centre as well as a 25m Swimming Pool with a Sauna & Hot Tub - ideal when the Aquatic Centre gets too busy or closes down for Summer Maintenance 👌
Big win for the Glacier Kings vs the Kraken! Usually a good crowd here for these VIJHL games. The food concession here serves burgers, fries, chicken strips, deep fried pickles and work. Their loaded burger is excellent. The are busy during the game so you will have to plan for 10 to 15 minute wait. Worth it though, nothing like a hockey burger!
What a great gym in our community, however the gym is not being cleaned. Eg. The treadmills have not been cleaned in at least two weeks, not sure why have mentioned this to counter ladies and still no action taken. This is a health and safety issue that needs to be reviewed by management.
Please keep your times updated online… it was very frustrating arriving and finding out you were not open this morning (Feb 16th). I called and no message — just rang, rang. Expect more from this facility.

Make a day of it — a quick-dry towel, dry bag, and post-soak layers take almost no pack space.
