Gallan's Miramichi River Tubing

We’ve gone tubing here at least 4 times. It’s a fun and mostly relaxing experience. Recommend the longer run because you get more time (3 hours vs 1 hour). Arrive and park, then wait in line to sign papers, hand over your keys (if you want) and get your paddle (if you want it). Then wait for the bus (10-15 mins) and the bus ride to the river drop off is ~10 mins. The straps to tie the tubes together are on the bus. You pick up your tubes and filler tube (if you rented one). You can choose a double tube or single tubes. Bring bug spray and sunscreen, water shoes and a hat. Recommend bringing snacks and drinks, waterproof speaker also. Entering and leaving the river can hurt your feet without water shoes. Walmart has cheap ones for $10. You may also want to get out of the river and pull over on the side to a little beach or rocky area to extend your time. Or, the current might pull you to the side so you may also need to get out of your tube and walk deeper into the river and in this case water shoes are very helpful. There are usually a bunch of dragonflies which help with mosquitos but there are several biting flies like deer flies and their bites hurt. Paid $112 for 2 tubes, 1 cooler tube and 1 paddle. Feels overpriced for tube rentals and a short bus trip. Thus the 4 stars. When you leave the river you exit on the right. If you are not able to exit on time there will be a boat to come and pull your tubes to the exit. You must be off the river by 7:30pm. You’ll likely see a bunch of ducks and geese along the river, which is nice. Don’t be surprised to go through some rougher parts in the river. It’s not enough to knock you out of the tube but you’ll want to make sure your backpack or cooler are secured properly. No reservations needed but be sure to check their Facebook page to see if they are indeed open. They usually are open throughout the summer but occasionally they may close down and post about it.

They offer the Rapids Run (5–6 hrs) and the Tidal Run (2–3 hrs), so you can pick what fits your day. It’s really essential.

Fun activity to do in the Miramichi, especially on a hot summer day. We did the short run, which took just shy of 2 hours. When you arrive, there are bathrooms and change rooms. There is also a key-drop to leave your car keys so you don’t risk losing them in the river. After buying your ticket, a bus brings you to the start area. It’s about a 10 minute bus ride. From the start zone, you pick your tube (take note - some have cup holders built in, but not all). They provide straps to tie several peoples tubes together, which is great. Highly recommend getting a cooler tube if you have anything you want to bring on the river with you. There were some rocky sections where you have to walk a bit if the water is low. Make sure you were sturdy shoes (ideally water shoes).

It was so fun my family and my friends enjoyed it so much the river is very slow but it’s so worth it. It’s more fun if u bring a friend or 2 cause u can enjoy it even more. At the end my friends and I jumped out and just swim the rest of the way. It’s better to go in the morning or before 1pm cause before it you can do the long ride which is more fun. My family and friends went in the short one but it still is pretty long time. Definitely go here again and whoever is reading this it’s worth ur money and time and trust me you’ll enjoy it so much.

A great concept with lots of potential, but timing is everything. We just missed the outgoing tide, so our tubing trip down the river was very slow. After about 40 minutes, we felt the experience had run its course and ended up leaving the river after about 1h30 early to walk back. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, and I’m sure the experience would’ve been much better with better timing, had we known. At $35 per person, it didn’t feel quite worth it for what we got, but I imagine it could be a lot more fun under the right conditions.
