Mist Thermal Sanctuary

My partner surprised me with a visit to Mist this past weekend for my birthday. We are both fairly experienced sauna-goers and were thoroughly impressed. We were immediately struck by the quietude and tranquility of the setting. You really feel tucked away in the forest. There's a great upward view of the sauna cabins as you climb the stairs from the parking area. The reception staff were very helpful and welcoming, and will guide newcomers through everything before the start of the experience. The cabins themselves are thoughtfully equipped with amenities. Great curated tea selection with many options to choose from. Heated floors, ample towels and linens, along with bath products and toiletries. Even hair ties! (I often lose my hair tie at the sauna). Another feature worth noting is that Mist uses traditional wood fire stoves rather than electric stoves for heating, which requires some attention but is worth it for the additional heat and ambiance. A large window allows you to overlook the surrounding trees while you relax and sweat. One of our highlights was watching a deer slowly navigate the lighted steps in the dark below us from the sauna window. In addition to the sauna itself, there are dual outdoor rain showers (along with eucalyptus essential oil spray that you can administer yourself), a cold plunge and temperate water tub, and finally a cushioned seated area next to a propane fireplace. Very cozy. We can't wait to plan our next visit!
MIST absolutely exceeded mine and my husbands expectations. We booked a 2 hour session here to celebrate my husbands birthday together and it was better than we could have ever imagined! The staff were friendly and professional. Lyn greeted us at reception and walked us through the Moss cabin prior to the start of our session. Everything was laid out so well and you could truly feel the benefits as you move through the circuit. This was our first time trying out a circuit spa like this and the experience overall was incredibly relaxing. Moving from the shower to sauna to the cold plunge, and relaxing by the fire were the perfect way to slow down and celebrate my husbands birthday. All the items provided smelled so lovely and we tried multiple teas which were all delicious. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Bowen Island and looking for a way to slow down and relax for the afternoon. In our two hours we completed the full circuit about 2 times, but I think it's definitely possible to get through it more than that. It was an absolutely perfect experience! Thank you so much MIST!
Mist Thermal Sanctuary was the perfect way to celebrate our 10 year anniversary after hiking Mt Gardner. We had the full Bowen experience. As soon as you turn into the property you are surrounded by gorgeous forest. The staff is friendly, helpful and sets the calm mood. I cannot think of anything more you could want. A cozy hut to change, make tea, and get ready in. Beautiful outdoor showers, a sauna with a window looking onto the forest. My legs sure did appreciate the cold plunge pool, and my partner preferred the more temperate pool. Cycling through while drinking tea, sitting by the outdoor (undercover) firepit. It was just a dream. We will absolutely be coming back, and would highly recommend.
This was an excellent experience. My husband and I visited during our anniversary trip, and we had a great time re-centering in nature with the recommended circuit. Everyone we encountered was so friendly. We appreciated the personal attention and explanation of the benefits, circuit, and amenities. Everything was carefully thought through to ensure the optimal re-energizing experience for guest. The setting was stunning and serene. I highly recommend this place especially as a new year centering practice. The provided products smelled amazing and definitely enhanced the experience. I appreciated that the sauna was already at the perfect temperature, and the relaxation area fire was already going.
A couple’s and introvert’s dream! The perfect way to relax and unwind. Each area (or thermal station) was carefully planned and well designed. From the cute bungalow that boasts loose leaf teas, artisan made body products to use, towels and robes…. To the cozy steam room or fire side lounge that overlooks the serene forest… it was all just amazing. The private little thermal bungalows were so fun and relaxing. My husband and I have decided to make this an annual trip each year from the mainland. I’m already dreaming of going back!!
