Strøm spa nordique / Mont

Extremely disappointed. Went with a reservation and they said their system didn’t show any. Needed to wait 2 hours for a possibility of a walk in enter. The receptionist didn’t show willing to help, said I needed absolutely to cancel my restaurant reservation cause I had no thermal experience reservation. She also stated that she could not call any other Strøm to see availability. After calling other strom they could indeed get in touch by phone to this strom (????). After driving 50 minutes back home, they caked me saying I could probably get after 11:30am (my original arrival time was 9:30). After getting in, the thermal experience was good, but started the day stressed out and troubled with these little things. At the counter the receptionist said my “choose of product from the collection” is limited based on what I paid. My total was around 250$ and my options were a 2$ cap, disappointing. When I get to the restaurant the things got terribly worse. The waitress got me to my table and there I was left for whole 30 MINUTES, while I could see people arriving around me and getting their choices within 3-4 minutes. People started their meals and I didn’t even ordered my plate cause nobody was getting to my table at all. The time between plates was 20 minutes. At the end they left me with my bill at the table for around 20 more minutes. Total time from enter till leaving the restaurante : 2 HOURS. The plates were well presented and beautiful. The flavour was good. The thermal experience was good but the overall experience unfortunately got the rate down to 3 out of 10
I’d rate my experience at Strøm Spa Mont-Saint-Hilaire as okay, but not worth the price for a “luxury” outing. We arrived early in the morning around 10 a.m., and were surprised to learn that there were no robes available for clients. Having previously worked in a spa, I understand that third-party suppliers can be late and that this can happen. That alone wasn’t a dealbreaker for me. However, when I got to my locker, I realized it clearly hadn’t been properly cleaned from the day before. We arrived almost at opening and there were used robes left everywhere in the locker area (see photo). That really put me off, as cleanliness is the bare minimum I expect from a spa, especially at this price point. We only received our robes about 2.5 hours into our visit, which was a big disappointment, especially since it was quite cold outside. The front desk staff were polite, but it felt like there wasn’t much effort to make up for the situation or offer any kind of compensation or alternative, which added to the frustration. On the positive side, the rest of the facilities looked nice, and the restaurant food was good. The site is beautiful, but it was quite crowded, so if you plan to go on a weekend, I’d definitely recommend arriving early. Overall, for around $100 per person for the thermal experience, I was expecting a much more seamless and luxurious experience. As it stands, I left feeling underwhelmed.
March 2026: Nice spa with good thermal experiences and a modern look. However, on Sunday at 6pm the receptionist said they had no towels available for the evening, even though the spa closes at 10pm. That means four hours with no towels in freezing -20°C weather. Completely unacceptable. About an hour later, around 7pm, the shelves were suddenly filled with towels. When I asked for one because mine was wet and frozen, I was given a towel but was told that I would not be allowed to have another one after that. According to the spa’s policy, clients are allowed to change towels until closing time, and there were still three hours left. This was one of the worst experiences I have had in terms of how guests are treated. It was extremely cold outside, and the situation made the visit very uncomfortable. Restaurant: the food was tasteless and the service was dull, slow, and lacking friendliness. Noise: no respect in terms of maintaining silence; everyone was talking even in a quiet zones, and staff was not even checking for this. It was hard to relax.
Part of the Strom Spa franchise, this branch in Mont-Saint-Hilaire follows most of what you'd expect from them. There are a couple of nitpicks that prevented me from giving a perfect score: - One of the baths was closed due to lack of heat. - The two steam baths were surprisingly lukewarm. We might have been unlucky, but they seem to have issues with their facilities. - They had rules posted here and there (some baths allowed talking and phone use and others didn't). However the rules weren't respected. - The place seems to be pretty popular. We went on Saturday morning when it was cold and rainy, and the whole place was full. We were surprised at the amount of people, as even spas in Montreal aren't as crowded. On the positives, the location is absolutely beautiful and the wide variety of trees really helps the "nature" part of the spa. The staff was also excellent. We took a back esthetic treatment as well and it was professionally done.
This was my first time at the spa. I have been too many spas. This one in my opinion is rated five star on every level. The staff are bilingual and friendly and knowledgeable. The relaxation areas are many the massage therapy was amazing and well priced, and the restaurant in my opinion is a five star great meal great presentation and very friendly staff.!! I had the duck, cooked to perfection and presented with perfect sauce/ vegies. It is a very relaxing atmosphere all around outside. Only thing that was a neg to me was that people should reapect the “silence means silence areas. Great experience.
