Ten Spa

Had an extremely disappointing experience at Ten Spa on December 31/25. - There were no lockers available in the men’s or women’s changing room for our afternoon arrival time. Yes, the holidays will always be a busier time at a spa, however everyone who comes in will need a locker, so the spa needs to plan for that. Either book in less clients throughout the day to leave breathing room, or enforce a time limit on use of the lockers/lounge etc to ensure everyone gets the experience they pay for, regardless of what time they arrive. - The ladies steam room was not steamy. I pressed the button many times and it took forever for any steam to be released. The button for the orange scent in the shower did not work at all, and the eucalyptus scent smelled musty. There were very few amenities available - no disposable combs for example. I tried calling the desk from the change room to ask for one but nobody answered. - The lounge area was anything but relaxing. There were groups of people loudly conversing as if they were at a bar, every second person had their cell phone out, and there was even a man walking around the lounge and at the food station in his bare feet. Not once did a staff member come through to address any of this. My partner and I could hardly wait for our appointment just so we could leave the lounge and everyone’s poor and immature behaviour behind. - The staff members who performed our pedicures were friendly and did a nice job. However, the entire time we were in the manicure/pedicure area, Ten Spa staff would walk down the hallway speaking loudly, laughing, and clanking dishes and towel carts around, giving zero consideration to those in the room trying to relax and enjoy their service. It was very annoying and disappointing to experience. Additionally, we were charged an extra fee for hand paraffin wax. The extra fee was not disclosed beforehand. We were both simply asked if we wanted the wax on our hands, and said yes thinking it was included and they were only asking as some people might not want it. It was only $20 extra but it felt dishonest - it takes a second to disclose that it does cost extra so guests don’t feel taken advantage of. - We were informed the spa closed at 7 pm. Around 6:15, my partner and I were in the change rooms getting ready to leave. I noticed that by this time, the staff were already putting things away and doing cleanup duties, clearly in a rush to be done work and go home, even though guests remained. I felt very rushed out and unwelcome. - The cherry on top of the cake of this disappointing experience was when a female employee entered the male changing room while my partner was clearly in there and began cleaning up, and continued to stay even after he began showering. He felt extremely uncomfortable with this and I was shocked to hear that it happened. In no circumstance is this appropriate conduct - if an employee needs to be in a changing room while a guest is using it, they should be sending someone in who is the same gender, no exceptions. The entire experience felt disappointing and phoned in. We used to enjoy going to Ten Spa, but it is not a luxury experience in any way anymore. Edit: Clearly whoever replied to this review lacks basic reading comprehension. I don’t know how else they’d come to the conclusion that I’m ever interested in returning to spend hundreds of dollars again given my dismal experience. I did not leave this review to provide Ten Spa with free consulting on how to run a spa. None of my feedback should be surprising. Frankly, things like not making clients feel uncomfortable when they’re naked in a change room and requiring staff to act like mature adults while they are working should be common sense. To be clear: I wrote the review so other hard working people do not waste their money here.
I had the most amazing experience at Ten Spa. It is rather pricey but you can make the most of it and spend some good quality time relaxing. I arrived 30 minutes before my appointment so I could get into my robe and steam. There are showers so next time I would do that before hand. Then in the lounge I grabbed some complimentary snacks of muffins and dried fruit. My esthetician was on time. I had a private room for the facial. She talked me through and explained super well what was happening. It was the most relaxing facial I have had so many steps! Extractions were hard as to be expected. I even got a arm and chest massage!!! After my services I stated another hour and half to enjoy the resting room, lounge and their afternoon snack. It was very enjoyable. I highly recommend you enjoy a few hours here! They also have everything you could need to get ready to go out after including blow dryers and straightners. So you can get ready in their beautifully lit mirrors just bring you makeup!
We went during the week, the spa areas where you sit and relax were dirty, dishes and plates piled on every table. No fresh blankets in the quiet area, plates also piled with food. The change room was untidy with food & dirt on the floor and used towels and robs on the floor and sitting benches. Dirty robs hanging in areas when there was no one using those areas like the sauna. Services were great, we got a rose oil massage and the specialty pedicure, and both were fabulous! The ladies doing the pedicure were divine and it has been my favourite experience yet! They also talked about the body treatments and I can’t wait to return to try one…or two. unfortunate the environment was unclean and unkept, has not been like that any of the previous times I’ve gone. There was also not many guests in the spa or sitting areas, a quiet weekday, which I enjoyed.
I was looking forward to my visit, but a few operational issues took away from the experience. There were no free lockers available for my friend or me, and although I arrived early to use the facilities, much of that time was spent asking for help locating a locker. The robe I was given was too small, but by the time I realized this in the relaxation area, I didn’t want to wait in line again to exchange it. I feel staff could better assess robe sizing when guests arrive rather than having guests search lockers themselves. The checkout process was also slow due to an inefficient shoe system. I watched staff search through multiple incorrect pairs for me and other guests, which added to the wait. Overall, the spa itself is lovely, but improving these systems would make the experience much more relaxing
We had an incredible experience at Ten Spa at the Fort Garry Hotel. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect — the spa is absolutely stunning, clean, and beautifully designed. The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming, making us feel comfortable right away. We booked the Hamam package for two, and it was truly the best experience — deeply relaxing, rejuvenating, and one of a kind. After our treatment, we enjoyed the quiet room, a peaceful space where guests can unwind post-treatment. Another lovely touch was the complimentary food bar, offering snacks and drinks to enjoy during your visit — a thoughtful detail that added to the overall experience. Ten Spa truly knows how to pamper their guests. We’ll definitely be back next time!
