How we make money.
SoakNation, operated by QuiltMap (Austin, TX), is free to use, with no paywall and no sponsored placement of springs. The site is funded through affiliate partnerships — described below so you understand the incentives at play.
Programs we participate in
- Traverseon (via the AWIN network) — outdoor gear links on spring and spa pages (towels, water shoes, pack gear)
- Booking.com Partner Hub — lodging links on resort/ryokan pages
- Expedia — flights and packaged trips
- Rental car (via Booking-affiliated network) — near-city pages
- Amazon Associates — gear references in tips and guides (towels, water shoes, headlamps)
If you click an affiliate link and complete a booking or purchase, SoakNation may earn a small commission. The price you pay does not change. Commissions are paid by the partner platform out of their margin.
What this changes about our content
We don't recommend springs, hotels, or gear because they pay us. We list every spring we can find data on regardless of whether it has an affiliate associated with it — most don't. When two roughly equivalent lodging options exist near a spring, we may surface the one that's on a network we're partnered with rather than one that's not, simply because we have richer data and pricing for it.
FTC disclosure
As required by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission'sEndorsement Guides, this is a formal disclosure that the site may include affiliate links and may earn commission on purchases made via those links. Where affiliate links appear, they will be marked accordingly.
Editorial independence
Spring listings, ratings, descriptions, and curation decisions are independent of any commercial relationship. If a partner offered to pay for placement, we'd say no. The directory's value depends on readers trusting it; that trust is worth more than any single commission.
