Martfű Hotel Thermal Spa

We spent 3 nights here as part of a New Year's Eve package deal and had a great time. I really liked the wellness, the restaurant was good too. The rooms weren't perfect, but that's probably what you can expect these days for this kind of money. Wellness/fitness/bath: It was a very pleasant disappointment that there weren't any crowds. The Finnish sauna seats 15-20 people, I sat in it several times alone or with another guest, there were a maximum of seven of us in there. No one in the gym, and a maximum of 2-3 people in the swimming pool (for a total of 6 lanes). There were a little more people in the spa pools, but that wasn't too bad. The wellness was very good, perhaps the only criticism is that the plunge pool and the cold pebble step were around 25 degrees. I liked the relaxation area surrounded by an aquarium after the sauna. The gym was quite worn out, not everything worked, but if you see it as a replacement, you can be happy that it exists, it's spacious and bright. The food was okay, I wouldn't say it was an exceptional culinary experience, but we ate delicious food. We had to ask the staff more than once to refill the buffet, but it was usually successful. The rooms were clean, most of the beds were comfortable. The soundproofing is not really good, the central heating and cooling is quite loud. If you are satisfied with 20-22 degrees, you can turn it off, and only the noise from the neighboring rooms is quieter. The carpet is worn, the bathroom grout needs replacing, the sink is cracked, the water doesn't come out very strongly from the shower head. Speaking of water! The tap water is the soft, rather strong-smelling water of southeastern Hungary, if you are sensitive, prepare yourself with mineral water! It is quite strange that there is a locked refrigerator in the rooms, a key is provided for 1000 forints per day. However, there is a room designated as a baby kitchen, with a microwave and a sink, without other equipment. There is a round table for 8 people inside, which is often used as a card table by large groups. The New Year's Eve dinner was great, but I didn't like the band very much. We were with a group of people between 50 and 60 years old, but the music seemed to be more for people over 70? There were good songs, mostly retro pop-rock, a little folk, but slowed down to a uniform rhythm, in a uniform style, in a hospitable way. We would have been better off with good machine music. We had a good time because we wanted to have a good time, and we got the opportunity to do so, and we glossed over the negatives.

In winter, the indoor air heating is of a rather poor standard, several people complained that it was cold and they were cold. We went with a 1.5-year-old child, but it was impossible to stay in the training pool with him for long because it was so cold. The posted pool temperature should not only be posted, but also be maintained at that temperature, because it had nothing to do with 34°C, even on bends. We did not take the little child and pay the entrance fee, which is high compared to the standard, to bring him out of the water cold! If they charge the same amount for the entrance fee as in a larger, more famous, high-quality bath, then please provide the appropriate conditions accordingly, or if they are unable to do this, then they should thoroughly reconsider operating in the cold season!!!

We came to the spa area, with 3 children (7, 9, 14) 2 pools for children, none of them too warm (mine are cold in it), they throw the child out of the thermal area, the entry system is quite strange, this little card system with clothes hangers...), there is almost nothing in the buffet... And the funniest thing is the hairdryer... the fixed ones are not made for children... Of course it's good for one... but not with such small children. A negative experience for us.

The spa has seen better days, we used to go here a lot. Then they demolished the ground floor sauna. Later they banned children from the thermal water. Finally they shortened the opening hours, now they only open at 10 am even on weekends. In the meantime, the entrance prices have increased. We prefer to go to another beach these days, it is not worth coming here with children at all.

We went to the spa a few days ago. We drove almost 100 km to enjoy the healing waters there. We really regretted it! The experience elements in the pools don't work, they just buzz. Only ice-cold water flows from the showers, you can't even buy a sandwich in the buffet, there's only a menu. The most popular one of the outdoor pools is closed. We came home disappointed.
