Millennium Lookout

One of the best places in Hungary is the Szalajka Valley. We used to visit it regularly. You can reach the Millennium Tower either on foot or by car. If you go by car, you have to pay a fee for the private road. On foot, it’s about 1.8 km from the start, and the path is quite steep. The view from the top is amazing. To enter the tower, adults need to pay 800 HUF and children 600 HUF.

Website and information boards show that it opens at 10 am, but around 10.15 the place was locked and no one was there. After calling their mobile number they said that it was changed to noon and we should have paid more attention to the boards… On our way back I checked all of them and opening hours were 10-16 on each.

We got here up by bike. It was challanging but as it is a toll-road for cars it was really weak traffic, so a good option for those who like biking. Btw there are a plenty of bike renting options around. At the top where you buy ticket, you can get some basic drinks as well.

After a 12-kilometer hike, my smile wasn't genuine when I had to go up, but it was worth it. The view is beautiful. It was clear weather and the snowy peaks of the Tatra Mountains were visible. 750 HUF/person to go up to the lookout tower. It was worth it.

Car park 200m walk from entrance, view is quite average to be fair, the township below and the mountains behind. Only 500ft per person so hella cheap considering
