Old Bakony Tourist House and Forest School

The guesthouse was supposedly recently renovated, but the floor creaks, they heat with a wood-burning boiler, there are LED strips plastered into the wall next to the beds as reading lights (!) in an incredibly unpretentious manner. Only some of the doors and windows were replaced, the hinges of the "new" windows also caused life-threatening situations (the window pane almost fell on us), after opening the window, a spider colony crawled out of the windowsill, there is a dead ladybug colony in the upper right corner of the window, but ladybugs are flying everywhere in the entire building, so hygiene is not a well-known concept here. You couldn't even bring your own sleeping bag, they banned its use, and the landlord of the place, Angella, couldn't give a solid reason for this decision. The duvet they provided, however, reeked of a strong tobacco smell, the mattresses had probably never been cleaned, so it was best for those who BROUGHT and USED their own sleeping bags... The bottoms of the bunk beds are scribbled together, the beds were probably last vacuumed in the last century. We found a large stone (!) under one of the mattresses. In short, I do not recommend this place to anyone!

We spent a week in the tourist house in mid-August, where we held a camp for our student actors. The environment met all our needs, the students had the highest praise for the accommodation, the location, and the play opportunities offered by the enclosed garden surrounding the house. We even had the opportunity to prepare a 20-minute play, Hunyadi's Star, in the shady spot provided by the garden pagoda in the mornings (we will present this in Vienna on September 7, but we had already shown it to our catering hosts the day before our departure). The area has many good hiking trails (only the Cuha water disappeared): the valley, the Csesznek castle, the Zirc abbey and the exciting exhibition of the natural history museum, or the Likas stone, were all great experiences. Of course, the palm among the students was taken by the pile of rocks in the Devil's Trench! The staff at the accommodation and the caterers were very kind and attentive - and what's more, even the teenage boys were satisfied with the food and the quantity! Thanks to the hosts for the unforgettable days and for their attitude!

We were on a class trip with a high school group to this fantastic place, the kids loved it too. The kitchen is super well equipped, the bathrooms are clean, and the rooms too. The garden is amazing, we even saw deer. The area is a perfect place for a trip, easily accessible by train, and the Cuha Valley is a wonder. We thank Angi and Gyöngyi for their kindness and helpfulness, they solved all our problems. This class trip will remain an unforgettable memory <3

Considering the circumstances - a good place. The area is nice, beautiful hiking spots. The house is clean. The yard is tidy, large area. We lived in the smaller house, here the toilet and bathing facilities are severely limited when there are a full number of people. The huge radiators push the heat at full power from the evening, but they are uncontrollable, it is difficult to endure the night with them.

When we decided to organize a winter camp in Bakony, we actually had in mind exactly this kind of place: quiet, next to the forest, secluded, yet comfortable, heated, well-equipped, and despite everything, easily accessible. Öregbakony is exactly that! The staff is kind and flexible, and there are many program options.
