It should be a nice program, but the disorganization completely ruins it. The scheduled 13:00 train left at 13:20, so many people, including us, couldn't get on it. They told us not to worry, the train leaves every 30 minutes, and we asked at the ticket office: the next train leaves at 13:50. However, the next train was at 14:00, so we waited patiently, peacefully and smilingly at the platform for more than an hour to ride towards the middle of the forest 😊 The colleagues handling the tickets are not nice, during the first attempt they just waved to "find a seat", and during our second (actual) boarding we had to stand at the entrance gate - I repeat: more than an hour ago - and watch from the front row as they let in friends who had boarded without tickets at the gate marked "exit" and who had arrived at the scene at that time. We won't travel with them anymore.

Overall, the train ride here in the Szalajka Valley is a good experience for both children and adults. The journey is about 20 minutes uphill (it is recommended to walk back, the environment is beautiful, there are many sights and the road is nicely maintained, easy to walk on foot or with a stroller). The ticket price for an adult is quite expensive. The length of the line is 5 km. The train was opened in 1908, and was built based on the plans of the engineer Ágoston Márkus from Eger. In the 1930s, the railway section was nearly 30 km long, and was mainly used to transport timber and limestone. Steam locomotives ran here until 1966. Today, it is used more for tourist purposes.

The Szilvásvárad State Forest Railway is a real specialty, offering an unforgettable experience to all nature and hiking enthusiasts. The journey time is about fifteen minutes, but this short time is more than enough to enjoy the view of the surrounding forests, streams and mountains. The route is extremely atmospheric, the train moves slowly, so you can marvel at every detail. We traveled in September, on a weekday, and were surprised by how full the train was, which shows how popular the program is among visitors. Although the condition of the track on some sections did not seem to inspire confidence, the train was comfortable and safe, so it did not cause any problems.

The Fatelepi station is located on the outskirts of Szilvásvárad, where you can buy a ticket for the small train. The ticket is for one direction. You can buy a ticket for the return trip at the above terminal, but it is better to walk down. The approx. 3.5 km long hiking trail is asphalted, actually a promenade. It is accessible with a stroller or wheelchair. Along the way, you can also eat in two places, in addition to numerous attractions. Halfway, in the building of the conditional stop at Halastó, a civilized toilet is available.

On holidays when hundreds of people are waiting, the security check is 0. Like herrings, if people can't sit down in a car without a roof, they stand in the middle without any kind of handrail or support! Either they fall out or fall on the person sitting in front of them! It's a damn accident risk!!
