Tokaj Museum

Simple local museum with interesting exhibits. There isn't too much to speak of as a 'wholistic narrative' to the items on display but more of a few scatterings of interesting items form the region. I did not see much see much on display about Rákóczi's War of Independence which I somewhat expected from this area being an epicentre of fighting. The most fascinating is probably the top-floor/attic area that resembled a folk museum with many crafts and wares of local artisanal productions. Descriptions on them are scant but very interesting nonetheless. The staff spoke very little English, but a little bit more German. Basic interactions for ticketing and directions were not an issue.

There are many different exhibitions to see, the most interesting for us was the ethnographic material put together in the attic. The inner terrace and the small courtyard are cozy, with a budding tulip tree in the middle. Thank you to the staff for their kindness!

Nice enough museum. The better exhibition is on the top globe which is like a folk museum. The wine cellar is also worth a look. Free entry for civil servants

A large collection of Hungarian cultural items on the top floor qualifying it almost as an ethnographic museum in a very interesting building.

A great overview of the origins of Tokaj as a town. Be sure to purchase the combo ticket to get access to the wine museum (a 5 min walk)
