Blue Lagoon

WOW! My best friend and I took a ten day trip to explore southern Iceland and this was one of the first stops we made during our trip. After an unnecessary layover in detroit (which my friend’s bag was misplaced and we had to pick up from Keflavík airport the next day..) and a five hour flight, this was the best way to relax and enjoy some self-care after rearranging the first two days of our trip. We arrived and we were welcomed with detailed instructions on how to go about the facilities and the wristbands, which is how you purchase masks/drinks and pay at the end using the wristband. The facilities were superb, so clean and it was refreshing to see such a busy place be so well maintained and managed. We purchased the premium package which included three face masks and two drinks and it was AMAZING. ALL of the products located within and out of the lagoon were spectacular, and I even purchased a bottle of lotion from their on-site store. The history makes this entire experience so lovely, and it was a very large open lagoon for many to enjoy and explore. Overall, we arrived for a 2PM reservation and although it was relatively crowded, it was perfect for the size of this location AND the experience. If you do not enjoy crowded spaces, it might be best to go a bit earlier or another day in the week from what I assume. I would recommend this place a billion times over, whether it’s your first or last stop on your self care journey in Iceland! 🇮🇸❤️

Don’t come unless you want to be disappointed!! We’ve come today to see the famous blue lagoon only to find that the water itself is actually cold not hot at all apart from one location under I tiny bridge where everyone is trying to crowd around for the little bit of warm water and I’m talking a little bit of heat!!! We’ve paid £350 including transfers and feel completely ripped off! It is definitely not what we expected if we could walk out and get our money back I would! I understand the wind is cold and the weather but for that kind of money and how popular it is you’d think they’d put some wind blocks or ACTUALLY HEAT the water when it’s as cold as this! The only places that give a little bit of heat is around the bins of the pool which is located where the bridges are! So to stay warm inside the water you have to dodge people putting their empty glasses away! Just look at the photos of how many people are actually swimming in the water next to none because theyre all too cold The sky lagoon was so much better warmer and cheaper! The workers actually walk around the pool which comes to show how much warmer it is!! Again blue lagoon was an absolute scandal and should put a lot more effort into it! This might be a different story during different months but again! For that kind of money and popularity! They should be doing a lot more to make your experience actually unforgettable because right now I’d rather forget and go home!

The Blue Lagoon was one of the most memorable experiences of my trip to Iceland. The milky-blue geothermal water spreading across the lava field was far more magical in person than in photos. Surrounded by steam and the stark black rocks, the scenery felt almost otherworldly. The water temperature stays around 37–40°C, which is very comfortable, especially for visitors who enjoy hot springs. The water itself feels incredibly smooth, and soaking in the silica-rich pool gradually melts away fatigue. The famous silica mud mask is a must-try—it leaves your skin feeling refreshed and smooth. Being able to order drinks directly from the water is another unique feature, and relaxing in the lagoon with a drink in hand was a wonderful experience. The facility is clean and well-maintained, with easy-to-use lockers and showers. One thing to keep in mind is that silica can make your hair very stiff, so applying plenty of conditioner before entering the water is highly recommended. Since certain times of day can be crowded, booking in advance is essential. Its convenient location between Reykjavík and Keflavík Airport also makes it a great stop before or after a flight. Overall, the Blue Lagoon offers a one-of-a-kind spa experience that captures the essence of Iceland. It truly became a highlight of my trip—a place where you can feel both the power of nature and the deep comfort of geothermal hot springs. I highly recommend visiting.

Amazing place! Arrived early to miss the crowds. Beautiful drive over and easy to find. Stunning landscape. We did the Signature ticket where you got a robe, face mask regime and two drinks on the wristband. Quite a queue for the bar but not too long to wait. Could maybe do with more cold water taps and mirrors to rinse, it was getting busy when we were there and I imagine it gets a lot busier through the day. Really is a lovely experience, nothing quite like it. There is a quiet place at the back where it is more zen. Plenty of space to relax in and lovely little coves. Amazing experience, we were celebrating a special birthday and it was truly a gorgeous treat! Shower facilities nice and clean. We tied long hair up with lots of conditioner and it was fine.

Blue Lagoon is undeniably beautiful and visually striking. The milky blue water set against the dark volcanic landscape creates a scene that feels almost unreal, and soaking there is genuinely relaxing, especially in cooler weather. That said, it is a very popular destination, and at times it can feel crowded and less intimate than expected. The experience is well organized and polished, but it does feel more curated than wild, which slightly takes away from the magic Iceland is known for. Still, it is iconic for a reason. A unique and enjoyable experience, especially if it is your first time in Iceland, just best enjoyed with realistic expectations.
