Forest Lagoon

We were advised to visit Forest lagoon by a local while in Reykjavik last year, and I can agree that was good advice! A lovely lagoon very close to Akureyri, with free parking and different packages available depending on your choice. We went for the calm package, with the use of a towel and a free drink from one of the swim up bars, and found this just right for us. We stayed about 3 hours. It is popular, but there is enough space for it not to be crowded. There is a cold plunge pool and a steam room. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are freely available in the showers. You enter the lagoon from the inside, meaning you can stay warm at all times.

Perfection 💜😍 The ambience and beauty of this place will relax anyone and everyone. Only a hop and a skip (5 mins in a taxi) from Akureyri centre. The Finnish sauna was indeed like in Finland. The main pool is steamy and beautiful, surrounded my little tables where you can rest your cold drink from one of the swim-up bars. The whole experience was so soothing and serene I would go here weekly if I lived in Akureyri or anywhere close by. And absolute must-do! Do not hesitate, even if you're not a spa person normally, you will love this place!

The perfect place to relax and recuperate after a long day adventuring. The views are great, the facilities clean, and the pools dreamlike. It's beautiful any time of day, but definitely worth going at night to catch the northern lights thru the rising steam of the Geothermally heated waters. It's open fairly late. Also perfect for a post-ski apres! Be sure to guard your towel though, they seem to disappear too easily, but luckily the friendly staff is there to help.

Yes. I was there with my daughter in person. Its really not a cut and paste job! Great experience. You can hire towels too. Bars outside at the Spa with restaurant inside. Open space under the sky and overlooking Akureyri. Great place to see the stars. Couples. Families. Solo travellers. So beautiful place to relax and unwind. My pictures of the Forest Lagoon have temporarily disappeared AGAIN so I'm sending others from my trip to Akureyri. Enjoy!

As far as lagoons in Iceland go (there are so many by now), this is one of the best if not the best. The price, after many years, is still very reasonable. It’s conveniently located close to Akureyri and even the bar prices and choice are more than reasonable. It has a beautiful design, as well as excellent hair and body products. It’s not overly crowded and pretty quiet too. I liked it, they did a good job 👍
