Hrunalaug Hot Spring

Truly magically incredible experience here at Hrunalaug. Hands down the best natural hot spring experience in Iceland after going to a few. It has been exactly one week that I was here on a Thursday afternoon. Pictures say a thousand word. (Please look 😍) Despite the windy climate, water temperatures were just perfect to relax and get comfortable in. There is heated changing facility that is suitable for the outdoor nature vibe. Let me tell you just how incredible the staff and services were, to ensure that the guests get the best out of the admission fee, I was offered to walk down to check out the facility before committing to paying for the experience. As well, there was also coffee, hot chocolate, and more to purchase at the entrance Hut. There, I met Kristjana, the sweetest and most welcoming beginning to start this magical soak.. everyone there genuinely care for their customers, offering the best services and ensuring that safety was their number 1 priority. I highly recommend Hrunalaug to everyone, and it was worth the drive of 1hr 40 mins from Reykjavik. I am waiting to go back again 😍

Didn't match our expectations, but was a worthwhile stop. We'd read about and hoped for a relatively private, natural and hot pool. It was none of those things. Upon arrival 12 people were already there, but the owner proudly asserted that she could accommodate 25 in the three small pools. The cost for entry is ~3000 Icelandic Kroner per person (see photo) for 1.5 hours. The pool itself was warm, not the hot that we'd hoped for but adequate for a relaxing stop. The algae in the pool was extremely slippery - be VERY CAREFUL getting in and out. Overall, we enjoyed the stop after resetting our expectations.

Absolutely in love with this small hot spring. Visited on a very cold windy February day and while my family backed out because of the air being so chilly, I’m so happy I went through with it. The changing rooms were super warm and cosy and had everything that you could need. The hot springs were small but clean and warm enough and the history behind it is super cute (people used to wash sheep there). The women working on the family hot spring was also super sweet. Overall really recommend.

Views were spectacular. Loved the little hut and the old rock pools. Definitely picturesque. The pools were not as warm as expected. Did not love the changing rooms. Small little huts which I’ve included a photo of. The door kept opening and everyone quickly covered themselves or else be exposed to anyone standing on the outside. Cold walk to the hot springs, make sure to bring shower shoes to run in the rain to the springs.

Only a 4 because it was hard stepping into the tubs safely. Very slippery - having to climb over rocks. The water is not hot here but enjoyable. We went in a rainy day and it wasn’t crowded. Stayed 2 hours gorgeous surroundings. Nice staff. Adequate changing area. Clean warm restroom. 3 tubs. But the place feels so authentic.
