Hvammsvík Hot Springs

ive been to Sky and Blue Lagoons respectively, and hand to heart LOVED Hvammsvik Hot Springs the most out of the lot! visited on a sunday morning at 11am and it was relatively empty til about 2pm. also very grateful to the staff on duty for being so flexible with my booking time (i was 30mins late but still got let in) i highly recommend booking the comfort package to get access to the indoor changing rooms. its just more equipped with benches, chairs, hairdryers and more spacious lockers. **just one thing to note: you can stay in the hotspring area for as long as u desire… but once u leave it you cant go back in. (i think thats fair) visitors i met there are mostly couples, solo travellers, and 3 small groups of friends. we’re obviously taking photos but without the loud, in-your-face, social media influencer energy. everyone’s super chill and mostly kept to their corners. dont leave without trying their famous seafood soup. it looks like a small bowl but its got a chockful of ingredients namely icelandic shrimps! super duper filling with bread and butter on the side. i drove there solo in a 4WD suzuki and had no issues with the small potholes dotting the road leading to the carpark. theres also ample free parking in the visitor carpark. this hotspring requires a lil effort to get to and i suspect thats why its not crawling with tourists despite it being the weekend. a lil “if you know, you know” spot thats serves stunning views at every turn. if you dare (i didnt) u could also jump into the frigid arctic waters for a cold plunge in between soaks. 10/10 would love to return with friends!

Super cool facility with multiple natural hot springs nestled into the beach overlooking the lake. They offer private changing rooms or communal rooms for a lower fee. I went with the communal and was totally fine, plenty of space and a few showers for before & after. Pick any of the 7 hot springs available in the area. The temperatures vary slightly but all are great. Beautiful views to enjoy while savoring the heat. Then walk down to the beach and take a cold plunge in the lake water. You can start inside the circle of rocks for a more gentle temperature, or venture outside the circle and get that ice cold lake water to shock the system. Once you're done with the hot springs, check out the steam room for an awesome ending to your visit. The room is slightly minty or something and feels wonderful. Highly recommend a visit!

This place was amazing. We came at 5 pm via tourbus. Gustavo, our driver was wonderful and kind. We had a delightful meal which included the Christmas board served by Phillip. He was attentive and provided an enjoyable experience, These hot springs were amazing. There are 4 or 6 pools.they were safe and easy to get to. The changing room provides locker rooms for your stuff. Tubs had different temps, one spring has access to a bar. We saw the northern lights unfold overhead. Would love to go back at low tide and sample sea water bath. Do not miss this experience.

These hot springs offered one of the best experiences of my entire trip. The facility is incredibly clean and modern with a variety of pools ranging in temperature. They are safe and easy to access and the changing rooms provide convenient lockers for your belongings. The setup is amazing with different tubs to choose from and one even has access to a bar. We were lucky enough to watch the Northern Lights unfold right overhead while we soaked. I would love to go back during low tide to try the sea water bath. Do not miss this experience if you are in the area.

We visited the hot springs and had lunch at the bistro and absolutely loved both experiences! The hot springs were hands down one of the best experiences we had on our trip to Iceland - super secluded, beautiful, and not too crowded. The bistro was exceptional, with the fish stew topping the list of the best meal we had in iceland. Fully recommend this spot to anyone visiting - we can't wait to come back!
