Akayu Hot Spring

A newly opened public bath. A local resident told me not to use the bath because it was hers and told me to move away in the middle of taking a shower. They were also talking loudly. It gave me the feeling that only locals should come here! If I was going to enjoy a day trip, I would have preferred a day trip to an inn. They didn't have shampoo or soap, but when I bought a bathing ticket I was given something like a sample. As long as I had a towel I'd be fine.

While it may not have the same atmosphere as Hakone, Arima, or Gero Onsen, this hot spring resort boasts a 930-year history. ♨️ Famous for its grapes and wine, you can even go grape picking in August. 🍇 Other local specialties include anbin mochi (flattened daifuku), Yonezawa beef, and bale-shaped fried tofu. 😌

Although it's half the size it was 35 years ago, this inn is thriving thanks to its upscale design and high-quality hot springs. May it attract a constant stream of guests!

It's a fun hot spring town. The nearby shops close too early. If you don't eat dinner early, all the shops will be closed and you won't be able to eat.

There's no denying that it has a rusty feel to it, but it has a certain charm and the hot water is good.
