Visited in February 2026. I dropped in during a car camping trip. I only used the hot spring for a day trip. The parking lot is across the street. It's spacious and free, but it seems there is a fee on busy days like weekends. When you enter, you'll find the hotel reception and a ticket machine. If you're only using the bath, buy a bath ticket from the ticket machine, go further inside, and go through a curtain with the word "bath" written on it to find the bath reception. Present your ticket there and enter. The shoe lockers are lockless. The changing room has a coin-free lock. The lockers are a little smaller than the usual bath lockers, so if you have a lot of luggage, you might want to use a clothes basket in addition. The women's bath has one spacious indoor bath, a cold bath, and a sauna. There are 11 washing areas. The shower head emits a mist similar to that of a Mirabelle, which feels nice on the skin, and the regular shower has quite strong water pressure which feels great. Shampoo and conditioner are sold separately, and although it's not as harsh as rinse-in shampoo, it is a bit rough. There is a partition at each washing area. The cold bath is at a source of about 32°C. It's not at all cold compared to a normal cold bath, but thanks to that, even for someone like me who doesn't like icy cold baths, it felt really nice and tiring. The open-air bath is small, about the size of a regular bathtub in a house, but only big enough for 3-4 people at most. There is a sign asking people to be considerate when using the bath. It was a weekday evening, so it was empty and I was able to use it without hesitation, but if it had been crowded, I might not have been able to get in at all. The main bath, cold bath, and open-air bath all had slightly thick, smooth water that felt really nice. There are three sinks and a Panasonic hair dryer, and lotion and milky lotion are also available. You need to purchase Menbou from the ticket machine. A bath ticket costs 700 yen, so it would have been nice if they had provided Menbou as well. I saw online that they have a wide selection of manga, but there aren't as many volumes as you'd expect.

神話の湯Shinwa no Yu at Aoshima Hostel may be part of a budget accommodation, but don’t be fooled—it’s clearly loved by locals too, who come here just for the bath. The spring quality is excellent, with a mild sulfur scent that adds to the authentic onsen experience. At just 700 yen for a day-use bath, it’s incredibly affordable. The facility is well-maintained and impressively clean. There’s a spacious main hot bath, a cold bath, an outdoor rotenburo, and even a sauna. You’ll also find a shower area and a powder room equipped with hair dryers, toner, and lotion. Just note that cotton pads and swabs aren’t provided. The indoor bath is large enough that it never feels crowded, while the outdoor tub is cozy—only fitting about two women facing each other, making it feel more intimate than spacious. I’ve visited three times, and each time I saw staff actively checking and maintaining the facilities, which shows a high level of care. This place is a hidden gem for anyone who enjoys a clean, relaxing, and reasonably priced onsen experience.

I feel very lucky to have such a great hot spring within walking distance from my hotel. An highly alkaline water onsen located in the center of Aoshima. It is operated in conjunction with an accommodation, and the accommodation is also quite popular. The water feels very smooth and the skin is very soft after taking a bath. You can purchase a same-day ticket for 650 yen. If you request a colored band on your first visit, you can visit multiple times on the same day. The bands are different colors for each day of the week. We stayed at Aoshima for a week and visited 4 times, and everyone in our group was so satisfied that we even made time to visit at 6 a.m. on the day of departure. Although it is small, it also has an outdoor hot spring. I definitely want to come back next time I visit Miyazaki.

The best✨ This is definitely a recommended hot spring♨︎ The water is so thick! You purchase a ticket once and get unlimited use for the day. The staff is friendly, and I always stop by whenever I'm in Aoshima. It's open from 6:00 AM, so even if you go first thing in the morning, locals, parents and children, and people on their way to work are always there! We had fun chatting in the bath♡ A local also mentioned that there are several other baths, but the bath's ingredients are so strong that they make it their number one choice! Even though I'm from another prefecture, I still recommend it✨ By the way, the open-air bath is hotter than the indoor bath. Also, it's a little small🤣♨️, but it's enough! 😁I want to come again!

It's probably more of a cold spring than a hot spring, but you can enjoy the 25-degree water in the cold bath. The sauna can fit about 6 people. Sauna mats are also provided. The routine of sweating, pouring yourself over yourself, then going through this lukewarm cold bath (for 2 people) and enjoying an open-air bath on two chairs is a lot of fun in winter. There's no view, but the sea breeze feels great. Also, the bus stop and JR station are nearby, so it's easy to get to even if you don't have a car. You can have a drink without any worries, and I think it's a great spot if it's not crowded!
