Ebisudani onsen

I visited Ebisudani Onsen. The hot spring water is of good quality and warms you up nicely. The entrance fee is 400 yen, and it's a very satisfying experience. The bathing facilities include a slightly hot indoor bath, (sized for 7-8 people), a small jacuzzi next to it, a cold bath, and a sauna. The yellow-green hot spring water flows steadily, and the sauna is compact, (sized for 4-5 people), but the temperature is powerful enough to make you sweat quickly. The open-air bath is slightly warm, set for a long, relaxing soak. Rinse-in and body soap are provided. There are two hair dryers (on the men's side). All you need is one towel to enjoy the hot spring. There are lockers at the entrance to the bathhouse for 100 yen (no refunds). There are eight washing spaces, but they're so close together that you'll interfere with your neighbors, so I'd recommend about five booths for comfortable use. Located in the mountains of Kunisaki, this hot spring is quiet, warms you up, and is very relaxing.

As usual, I was browsing Google and saw that this hidden hot spring had been selected as one of the top five, so I decided to go. I went there in the light rain, but since it's truly a hot spring in the mountains, I was even more excited. When I got in, there was both lukewarm bubbling water and hot water. I went in the lukewarm water first. It had a faint sulfurous smell, and apparently it's rich in sulfate ions, so the water was cloudy and very pleasant! The hot water was about 40 degrees, just like a hot spring. The view from the open-air bath, especially with the autumn leaves already in full bloom, really gave me a sense of autumn. The sauna was probably an infrared sauna. It was about 90 degrees, and I was able to relax and feel very satisfied! Price: 400 yen, 300 yen for those 75 and over Purchase from the ticket machine. Payment: Cash only. Rinse-in shampoo, body soap, and soap are available.

November 2023 Iwatani Onsen Hot Spring Name: Iwatani Onsen Spring Water Quality: Calcium-Sodium Sulfate Hot Spring Amenities: Rinse-in shampoo, body soap, hairdryer. Lockers for valuables available (for a fee) A secluded hot spring nestled deep in the mountains. Even on weekdays, there are a fair number of people, mostly regulars. If you want to relax and unwind, it tends to be less crowded closer to lunchtime than first thing in the morning, so keep that in mind. After enjoying the hot springs here, have lunch at Shikisai, a restaurant I'd rather keep hidden, about 30 minutes away by car. It's in a renovated old house and reasonably priced, so please consider it as well.

Additional note I visited in September 2020. I went in around dusk, and there were a few customers. The ochre-colored hot springs were very pleasant. Lockers for storing valuables cost ¥100, but they are non-refundable after use! (Additional note) Additional note I visited in April 2025.
