Fujiyama Onsen

📍 Fujiyama Onsen ふじやま温泉 @ Yamanashi, Japan 🇯🇵 We visited Fujiyama Onsen on 17 November 2025, making a relaxing stop here while waiting for our laundry at the nearby Kawaguchiko coin laundromat. The onsen has a warm, traditional Japanese atmosphere with a beautiful wooden structure 🪵, wide corridors, and clean facilities that feel calming the moment you enter. At the entrance, we placed our shoes in the shoe box locker 👟🔒 and registered the key at the counter. We brought our own towels, so we could head straight into the bathing area without needing to rent extras. We visited around 8pm, and it was quite crowded, but the entire facility is huge, offering plenty of space. There are spacious indoor and outdoor baths ♨️, so even with more people, it never felt too packed. The outdoor area was especially refreshing, with cool mountain air and a peaceful night atmosphere. The indoor baths were clean, well-maintained, and equipped with all necessary amenities. After finishing the bath, we made payment at the kiosk booth 💳🧾 before exiting. The kiosk system is simple to use, and staff were nearby to assist if needed. Overall, Fujiyama Onsen provided a relaxing, convenient, and refreshing break during our Kawaguchiko evening. A spacious wooden-style onsen with both indoor and outdoor baths — perfect to unwind, even during busy hours. ♨️🗻✨

Had a great, comfortable experience here. My husband and I have some small tattoos and were able to purchase the cover patches for 600 yen each upon entry which you can cut to size. They allow maximum 2 patches per person so if you have large tattoos then this would not be the place. However if you can cover up then come here for sure! The locker areas, baths and outdoor onsens were of a good size and organized despite some crowds. The whole facility felt proper and almost similar to those you find in 4-star resort hotels. Upon arrival, you get a locker number + RFID bracelet for your shoes and everything you do/expenses you incur (the entry fee, optional services like scrubs/massages, vending machines, gift shops etc) gets scanned onto the RFID, which you pay for upon exit - which is very efficient and smart! The onsen and lockers etc is located on Level 1 (ground level) and every other level is for something else - restaurant, games, resting and lounging etc, so you can either spend an hour here or half a day, thats completely up to you. I would recommend this especially if your hotel does not have this facility and/or you want to have a Japanese onsen experience which is tattoo friendly

A pretty good onsen with a nice selection of pools, divided into one indoor and one outdoor area. There are plenty of showers available before entering the baths, so it will be very difficult to end up waiting. Tattoos are allowed, although the rules are a bit confusing at first, as the signage at the entrance suggests otherwise. After asking the staff, we were told that each person can purchase up to two cover patches (15 × 20 cm each), which can be cut to size. This seems to be their way of assessing the size and number of tattoos. The patches were easy to remove and didn’t hurt, even with body hair. Overall, the experience was enjoyable. However, when we visited, there were quite a few noisy guests. An onsen is usually a very quiet, relaxing environment, so this took away slightly from the experience. Still, a good visit overall.

My third visit as a guest of the Highland Resort Hotel next door. I love Fujiyama Onsen, it's one of my favourites of Japan and I'm always so glad to come back here, especially following a busy day at Fuji-Q! And now after visiting several more onsens, I appreciate even more just how great Fujiyama Onsen is. The facility is spacious with multiple baths, including cold bath, bubble jets, outdoor baths, sauna, and plenty of chairs and loungers outside. The atmosphere is good, and there does not seem to be any clueless tourists who don't know what they're doing or breaking rules. It is a genuinely relaxing place to be that left me feeling ready for my onward journey towards Kyoto.

You take your shoes off right when you enter and put them in lockers. The first desk is for booking the general facilities. If you go around that desk and to the right, you can book massage appointments. One hour was 6,000 yen (about $35 USD). We had two girls and one guy and we all had our massages in one room together. Fully clothed and with the lights on! It was different than other massages I’ve had but REALLY good! My only complaint was not being able to call/book in advance and the facilities were a bit dirty. I didn’t see the spa areas.
