This hot spring springs up in a residential area of Utsunomiya City. The road to the parking lot is narrow, so please be careful. The parking lot is unpaved, but can accommodate more than 15 cars. As you enter the building, there is a shoe rack on the right, so please leave your shoes there. The reception is on the left, where you can pay the 520 yen bathing fee. The women's bath is behind a red noren curtain on the right, and the men's bath is behind a navy blue noren curtain on the left. There is a valuables locker to the right of the women's bath entrance; it's not very large, but it can be used free of charge. Going through the noren curtain into the changing room, you'll see a four-tiered shelf containing laundry baskets. There are no lockers with locks, so please be careful with your valuables. There is one sink and two free hair dryers. There is also a fan and a household scale. To the left of the bathroom are six washing areas, temperature-adjustable showers, and body soap and rinse-in shampoo. There are two bathtubs, the front one is a cold bath and the back one is a hot spring with a water temperature of 42°C. There is no chlorine smell and it is a natural hot spring. The open-air bath has a water temperature of 41°C and is also a natural hot spring with no chlorine smell. A natural hot spring in the city is quite rare. There are also quite a lot of guys with tattoos, but most of them are friendly and everyone enjoys a harmonious bath. Tochigi Prefecture is amazing, as you can enter a natural hot spring in the middle of Utsunomiya city for just 520 yen!

May 17, 2025 A natural free-flowing hot spring in the city ♨️ Bath fee: ¥520 The sodium bicarbonate spring water is colorless and transparent, with a slight brownish tint. With a pH of 8.2, it has a thick, alkaline texture that feels silky on the skin. It's a skin-beautifying bath. The water temperature is listed as 48.2°C, but it was about 42°C at the bathing point. It was a little hot, and after 10 minutes, my forehead started to sweat. 💦 The bathtub is large enough for about 4-5 adults to stretch their legs out. There's a cold bath next to it. There's an open-air bath, but it was raining, so I only used the indoor bath. Shampoo and body soap are provided in the bathtub. My body felt warm after my bath. The parking lot is unpaved and spacious. There was a man in the men's bath with tattoos covering his back and thighs, but I didn't mind it too much.

I visited around 4pm from outside the prefecture. The changing room and bathroom are by no means spacious, but there were only 2-3 other people there, so it wasn't crowded. I think the indoor bath was around 41 degrees, and the open-air bath was around 38 degrees. The price was reasonable, and the hot spring was odorless and thick, so I was very satisfied. I went because I heard tattoos were allowed, and I was able to bathe without any problems. The quality of the hot spring, the price, and the fact that everyone can warm up without prejudice made it a great place. I'd definitely like to use it again if I'm in the area.

It was a mid-winter day with a maximum temperature of 6°C, but I only took a 20-minute bath and after an hour it was still too hot to put on my down jacket, so I ended up outside in my sweatshirt for a while. The water was surprisingly hot. There were certainly some people with tattoos, but when I went in I said "hello" (you don't say this at super sento, but this is a compact bathroom where greetings are exchanged naturally), and they all greeted me normally, and everyone was extremely well-mannered, so I had a much more pleasant bath than at super sento where there are noisy, ill-mannered parents and children.

The price was cheaper than other hot springs, but I personally didn't find it very good. I'm sorry to say this, but there is no sauna, only three baths, and the staff aren't particularly friendly. Also, while many facilities consider junior high and high school students (12-18) to be "nakajin," this facility only caters to those under 12. Even though I checked in advance, I ended up paying more. My advice for first-time visitors: If you're sensitive to smells, this may be a bit difficult. Please be aware that it's difficult to lock your valuables.
