A vast plain with room for growth? Nasu's roadside spa Leaving Sun Valley and Minamigaoka Ranch behind, we headed down the mountain road towards our accommodation for the night, Nishinasu Palace 🚙 Stopping off at a roadside station and Cheese Garden, we spotted a spa-like hot spring facility ♨️ along the roadside. As expected of Nasu, a car-dependent society, it boasts a vast parking lot, and there's even a candy castle nearby! [Dry Sauna] Width 2.2m, Depth 4m, Height 240cm The seating is two-tiered, and the heat source is Bona. In stark contrast to the wood-grained sauna room, the exterior has a stylish, exposed concrete look, like a tool room ✨ It's completely outdoors! There's no TV, and the interior is modern classic. The wood on the seats is slightly swollen. There's a 5-minute hourglass ⏳ [Cold Bath] Width 1.5m, depth 1.5m, height 50cm The water quality is excellent, possibly drawn from mountain springs. It feels like a refreshing 11℃✨ Located in a corner of the indoor bath! [Relaxation Area] There are 5 relaxation chairs in the open-air bath and 2 in the indoor bath! The open-air bath, in particular, boasts a vast garden that seems to be over 30m square, and at this time of year you can admire mountain cherry blossoms 🌸 The vast space could be expanded into a barrel sauna, a second cold bath, and so on! Around the open-air bath, there's a thick layer of moss, perhaps due to the water quality. [Bath] The indoor bath has a vast cypress wood bathtub measuring 12m long and 4m wide! There's even a sign warning, "This is not a swimming pool!" The open-air bath has a circular bathtub about 3m in diameter! The spring water is said to be a chloride spring, but it feels slightly diluted and alkaline, a unique spring quality different from the acidic springs upstream and the nearby Shiobara Onsen. The bathroom is constructed from a single large piece of wood, and looking up at the ceiling is spectacular! Amenities such as tonics and treatments are abundant! The cup-type water dispenser in the changing room is also a nice touch! [Waiting Area] You can relax and watch TV or get water in the spacious tatami room. There are about 50 magazines available, but no comics; mostly travel magazines. There's also a restaurant, open only on weekends. There's a souvenir corner and a shop! The massage chair room is uniquely completely separate. The lobby has a calming, woody atmosphere, and several photos from when the building was constructed are displayed on the walls. A black rotary phone is still in use! Overall, it's a facility specializing in hot springs, and because there are no unnecessary things, you can concentrate on your recovery. It's also easily accessible for locals. Therefore, it seems to be quite popular, attracting a wide range of age groups. There's plenty of space in the courtyard, so I'm hoping for an expansion in the future, like in SimCity!

Saturday, December 27, 2025 I visited in the evening, but it wasn't crowded. I put my shoes in the locker, bought a ticket from the machine, and proceeded to reception. The facility isn't large, but it does have a souvenir corner, a massage area, a free rest area, and a smoking area. Baths: Indoor Bath 1, Open-Air Bath 1, Cold Bath 1, and Finnish Sauna 1 The indoor bath is rectangular, 41-42°C, and can accommodate about 50 people. The open-air bath is circular, 40°C, and can accommodate about 13 people. The Finnish sauna has two levels, the lower level around 80°C, and the upper level around 83°C. There are four massage chairs. My personal impression is that the layout feels a bit odd. First of all, there's no shower at the entrance (none). The sauna is outside, and the cold bath is inconveniently located next to the indoor bath. The open-air bath is small, but the flat, grassy courtyard is about 15 times larger than the open-air bath (enough to play mini-soccer). There aren't many massage chairs. Finally, the sauna temperature is low, so it's a bit disappointing.

Prices increase by 100 to 150 yen on holidays. There is an open-air bath and Finnish sauna. The water is a comfortable hot temperature (not lukewarm). Shampoo, soap, and all basic skincare products are provided. The garden is vast, and there may or may not be hidden cameras. The circular open-air bath has an open feel, and it's hard to tell if there are hidden cameras. The indoor bath is wooden, giving it a Japanese feel. The shower is a push-button type. I went in the morning, and was happy that it was empty.♨️

This is a public bathhouse in Nasu. I've only been there on weekdays, but I imagine it gets crowded on weekends, holidays, and during long weekends. The bathing fee is cheaper from 4:00 PM, so the number of visitors increases dramatically. The cafeteria is only open on weekends. The rest area is open on weekdays, but I'm not sure about weekends and holidays. It's fully equipped with an open-air bath and sauna. Body soap, shampoo, and conditioner are provided, and there's also a hair dryer and plenty of amenities in the sink.

We stopped by on our way back from Mount Nasu. Since it's built like an annex to the "Castle of Sweets," I didn't have high expectations for the bath itself, but...it was very spacious, with an open-air bath and sauna, and even hairdryers, lotion, and toner were provided. It was great. The water made my skin smooth, warmed me up, and was very relaxing. The rest area was also spacious, clean, and a great place to unwind. They sell lots of souvenirs, and you can also buy products from the "Castle of Sweets" here.
