Hibara Fureai Onsen (hot spring) “Kobo”

It was a small village-run hot spring facility. (I bathed there on June 26, 2024) It's an alkaline spring, but unlike the slippery spring water that clings to your skin, it's rather unremarkable. The water temperature felt like about 40°C, so you could enjoy a long soak (lol). The lower half of the bathroom window was frosted, so I could stand and enjoy the view of Lake Hibara. If I opened the window, I could enjoy the lake view while soaking in the bathtub, but the washing area was completely visible from the outside (lol). However, since there were no cars on the road, I guess I didn't have to worry (lol). The bathroom layout meant that the trees were less in the way in the women's bath, so the lake view was probably better. The bathtub was about the size of two tatami mats and could accommodate about two people, with a maximum of three people sitting shoulder to shoulder. There were three mixer taps, and shampoo and body soap were provided. Apparently, hair dryers were available for rent at the reception desk. I'd been interested in this hot spring for a while, and finally got to try it out. There's a parking lot, located opposite the building. The reception is on the left as you enter the entrance, and you pay there. The fee is 400 yen for adults. The rest area is in front, and the changing room and hot spring are on the right. In the changing room, clothes are placed in baskets, and I couldn't see on the day whether there were lockers for valuables. The hot spring is simple, consisting of a bathing area and a washing area, but it does provide rinse-in shampoo and body soap. The bathing area would probably be filled to capacity with six people, but there were no other users on the day, so we had it all to ourselves and were able to relax. The water was a little lukewarm, so I was able to relax. You can also see Lake Hibara from the bathing area. The facility seems to be well-maintained. I think it probably doesn't get too crowded, so I really liked it. I'll use it again. In my opinion, it would also be good for warming up a cold body after fishing.

After strolling around Goshikinuma, I wanted to take a dip in a hot spring, so I searched online and chose this one. The price (only 400 yen!) and the relaxed atmosphere (it seemed quiet since it's village-run) made for a very pleasant bath. Due to the effects of COVID-19, I had to fill out my name and contact information, but that was unavoidable. The water itself was colorless and odorless, but it left my skin feeling incredibly smooth. The temperature was relatively lukewarm; there was no thermometer, but it was probably around 40 degrees Celsius. There was another person there when I arrived, but they left soon after, so I had the place to myself until I left. Body soap and shampoo with conditioner are provided, so all you need is a towel. I felt refreshed and ready to head to my next destination.

The maximum number of people allowed in the bath at the same time is 3 for both men and women (due to COVID-19 measures). It gets crowded with locals after 7 PM. General admission: ¥400 April-October: 10:30 AM - 7:30 PM, check-out at 8:00 PM November-March: 10:30 AM - 4:30 PM, check-out at 5:00 PM This is the latest day-use bathing option available on the shores of Lake Hibara during the summer. As mentioned above, there are capacity limits, so it's best to visit with plenty of time to spare. The parking lot is a gravel area across the road. It looks like it can accommodate about 20 cars. Please note that the lower half of the windows are covered with film, so you cannot enjoy a lake view.

It was a charming hot spring located at the entrance to a small, open village. The water quality was excellent and seemed good for the skin. However, the washing area was almost the same temperature as the outside, so it was quite cold, and the water wasn't heated, so it was quite lukewarm. On the plus side, I could soak for a long time and warm up to the core, so I felt great on the way home. I'd like to go again in the summer.
