Higashi Dogo Onsen Kumenoyu

This old-fashioned hot spring is small but affordable, with excellent, viscous water. While there are other high-quality hot springs in the Kume/Takako area, such as Soratomori and Takanoko no Yu, I think Kume no Iyu has the best water quality. Because hot spring water is used throughout the bathroom, from the shower to the cold bath, your body will feel smooth and silky while bathing, and it feels like that smoothness will last until the next morning. The variety of baths is generally small, but there is a good selection, and there are also resting chairs and sleeping spaces after the bedrock bath and sauna (capacity about 8 people), so it's clear that a lot has been thought out for users. At just 600 yen, it's very affordable, easy to use, and of very high quality. One downside, and understandably so, as it's popular with locals, it does get crowded from the evenings, even on weekdays, mainly with older locals, so be aware of this if you want to relax.

This is a hot spring that has been popular for a long time. It's associated with Kobo Daishi, and while not as good as Sakura no Yu, the water is still wonderful with its smooth, alkaline quality.👍 It's a small facility, but it's well-equipped with amenities like a restaurant and haircuts. It's also famous for being the home of Kanpei Hazama, a past visitor.❗️ I recommend the "Tsuki no Ganbanyoku" (Moon-shaped Stone Bath)!🌙 You sit in a chair made of rock and immerse your hands and feet in the hot spring water. It has a detoxifying effect, and you'll sweat out instantly. I come here when I'm feeling unwell or tired, and it seems to help me recover faster. It's also nice that the water coolers and washing areas use natural spring water, "Mitama-mizu." The only downside is that it's always busy, and the elderly locals are loud and noisy in the baths, making it difficult to relax.😂

I relied on Google Maps to get there, and for a moment I wondered if I was going the wrong way because it was a residential area with narrow roads, but I arrived safely (^o^)v The baths included an open-air bath, a cypress bath, an indoor bath, a bubble bath, a sauna, and a cold bath ✋ The rest area was a little small, and the open-air bath was full with about 5 adults, and the facilities were a bit old, and there was no stand to put washbasins in the washing area, which was a bit of a drawback... However, the hot spring water ♨️ made my skin smooth, it was good value for money, and I was glad that they provided body wash and shampoo 😊

Despite having facilities comparable to a super sento (large public bathhouse), it's incredibly cheap at 550 yen. Not only is it cheap, but it's also open all night, so you can stay overnight if you want. However, there are absolutely no nap rooms, reclining sofas, or places to take a nap, so if you want to stay overnight like in a health spa, you have to keep bathing to your heart's content... The open-air bath had a free-flowing alkaline simple spring water source, and it was equipped with a sauna and cold bath, and shampoo and body soap were provided, so I thought 550 yen was truly incredible value for money.
