Hiratopia Onsen

I went on a Saturday, and was surprised by the number of people there; it must be popular with locals. There is one indoor bath and one outdoor bath. I think there is a sauna and a cold bath as well. The outdoor bath is small, so I don't think it can fit more than 10 people, so you have to be careful. There's no particular view from the outdoor bath. There were about 10 washing areas, but they filled up quickly, so it was like washing potatoes. All the baths were hot, at 42 degrees, so you couldn't stay in the bath for long. Honestly, it was the most uncomfortable hot spring (public bath) I've ever experienced. On top of that, there are only four places to dry your hair, so you have to dry it quickly. The staff at the facility clean regularly, so the rooms are very clean, which is nice. The rest area is also small, so you can't relax, so I won't be returning. I feel like the facility could be a little bigger.

Hiratopia's facilities themselves are a little old, but it's a cozy and relaxing hot spring. The view and air from the open-air bath were particularly pleasant, and I was able to spend a relaxing and soothing time there. The bath alone was very satisfying. However, when I went to eat after my bath, I noticed a male staff member who looked like a part-time university student sitting there tapping on his cell phone, and honestly, I didn't feel like ordering. There was a lot of private conversation at the reception desk, and even though it was a slow time, I think the impression would be much better if they were a little more efficient and attentive. The hot springs are so good, so I felt that the customer service was a real shame. The stars seen from outside Hiratopia are also beautiful.

First visit on January 26, 2025 It's small and has a public bath-like atmosphere, but it was relaxing in its own way. The clientele is mostly older, with no groups of young people like students, so I was able to relax. The sauna is small, so it only accommodates five people. The temperature drops when the door opens, so I didn't sweat unless I stayed in for a long time. The cold bath is apparently from the hot spring. It's only big enough for one person, but it felt like I had it all to myself, which was nice. The open-air bath was just the right size and the temperature was low. The indoor bath was warmer. The indoor bath has an area with bubbles rising.

I always visit! It's amazing how, if you bring your own towel set, the bathing fee is only 620 yen for adults. (Towels and amenities can be purchased for an additional fee.) Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap are provided, but I preferred to use my own shampoo and conditioner, so that wasn't a problem. (There are four hair dryers.) To avoid the evening traffic, I had dinner at the on-site restaurant. 🍚 I ordered the miso cutlet set meal. ✨ The flavor was rich and satisfying, with a rich yet not overpowering taste. It's a little off-putting, so the air is fresh, and I was able to relax in the tranquil space. I was very satisfied.

When I actually got in the bath, I was very satisfied to find that there was an open-air bath and sauna as well. There were many people who seemed to be locals, so I think it's a popular bathhouse. I highly recommend giving it a try if you're visiting a nearby ski resort.
