Horinji Onsen

I came here because of its reputation for its quietness and excellent baths. I called to say that my check-in would be a little late, and the staff were very polite, so I'm excited! 😊 I immediately had dinner. The rice was delicious overall. 😋 I stayed here again in late September, and I was served ayu (sweetfish) without roe. It was still delicious. 😋 If I had to be greedy, I'd have preferred a hot, cooked dish like teppanyaki or hot pot... 😅 Breakfast... I wonder if they just served food straight from a package? It was a disappointment. 😢 After the bath, my body felt warm and cozy. I thought it might smell like sulfur, but thankfully it didn't. 😅 However, the bath changing room and the restroom were filthy. I was bothered by the mildew smell and was told that the bathroom would be cleaned at 9 PM, but when I used the bathroom in the dressing room in the morning, there was hair on the floor and paper towels left in the trash... Maybe I'm just picky... The tatami mats in my room also started to sag when I walked on them after a while, which was disappointing. I paid about 11,000 yen each, but I think it could have been a little cheaper. PayPay is accepted. I'd love to go again if they renovate... 25.09.27

This hot spring♨️ and inn has a solid concept. The morning free-flowing hot spring offers a luxurious feeling as the hot, rich spring water, unique to the source, overflows from the tub. The open-air bath has a slightly viscous spring that leaves your skin feeling smooth. As the inn's website states, it is recommended to take a fresh bath first thing in the morning, as the water is replaced daily. The meals are also healthy and of sufficient quality and quantity. Plans can be tailored to suit all needs, including overnight stays, day trips, daytime parties, and the option of breakfast and dinner with or without meals. The staff's smiles and natural, heartwarming service spirit are also great. Additionally, there are surcharges for days before holidays and during Golden Week, which are calculated per room rather than per person, totaling an incredible +900 yen per room. This is the kind of inn that makes you think that hot springs♨️ should be like this.

The open-air bath was full with only three people. There was no view, and the water was a little lukewarm, so people tended to soak for long periods of time and the turnover was slow. The indoor bath wasn't very large either. So, the facilities weren't great, but the benefits of the "direct-flowing hot spring" are great. I felt warm after the bath, and even though it was winter, I still couldn't stop sweating. When I relied on the navigation system to get there from the Toyama side, I ended up passing the entrance. Be careful, as the entrance is so sharp that you'll need to make a U-turn and then change direction if you're coming from the Kanazawa direction.

We received a coupon of JPY2000 each for staying at Guesthouse Kazura, which could be used at several establishments in Nanto. It was a promotion by Toyama One Wallet, and one of the places we could use the money was at this onsen. In the men onsen there are 9 shower booths with one indoor and one outdoor pool. The outdoor pool for men were right beside those for women, but with a partition in between of course. It was cool sitting in the outdoor pool with snow falling on us. After onsen we bought some Toyama milk-based drinks ftom the vending machine.

The hot spring water flows freely from the source. The source temperature is 46°C, and the indoor bath is a little hot, but the outdoor bath feels lukewarm in winter, making a long soak very pleasant. The hot spring water for the indoor bath comes out of a U-shaped faucet so that it can be filled into a plastic bottle. I took a sip and it tasted quite good. It would have been delicious mixed with hot shochu, but they didn't have any plastic bottles so I gave up. Please bring a bottle with you to drink.
