Hotel Lakeside Tsukuba

This was for business use. All the business hotels near Tsukuba Station and Ushiku Station were fully booked, so I stayed in a double room with a private bathroom. I booked a room-only stay, so I didn't eat. I accessed the hotel by car from the Ushiku Station area, but there didn't seem to be any convenience stores within walking distance. (Apologies if I'm mistaken.) The parking lot is quite spacious. The hotel's exterior is rather old. The lobby is somewhat ornate, but the corridors and stairwells are old and unappealing, resembling a school or hospital. If I had used this hotel for a resort stay, I would have been quite disappointed. The front desk staff were calm but lacked energy. And as others have mentioned, the entire building smells like toilets. There's an unpleasant, old-fashioned smell, like a public restroom. Around the large public bath, there's a typical chlorine-like smell of hot springs, so I think the smell isn't from the hot springs themselves, but rather from the toilets or sewage in the corridors. The rooms don't smell, perhaps because they've been renovated. (The bathroom smells a bit.) I'm not a fan of public baths in general, and given the situation, I figured the public bath would be similar, so I didn't use it. I used the bathroom in my room, but the grout between the tiles and the storage area for small items were incredibly moldy. It's a unit bath, but it's relatively new and has a spacious bathtub, so it's a shame that it's not properly cleaned; it would be much more pleasant to use. Also, when I lifted the covers to go to sleep, there was hair on the pillow. The whole facility gave off a vaguely unclean impression, which is a real waste. The electrical outlets in the room are conveniently located by the bed. Perhaps because it's been renovated, there are quite a few outlets. The double bed is spacious and comfortable. However, the most disappointing thing was that there was no hairdryer in the room with a private bathroom. I admit it's partly my fault for overlooking the fact that it wasn't listed on the website's amenities list, but I think they should at least provide a hairdryer, even if it's not an expensive one, if the room has a private bathroom. Going all the way to the public bath just to dry my hair is a hassle. Also, perhaps because it's a resort hotel, there are a lot of families, and sometimes it's noisy because you can hear children crying and shouting from other rooms or the lobby. Otherwise, the surrounding noise was quiet. The gift shop seems to sell souvenirs and a small amount of alcohol. I think it's open until 8 PM. There's one vending machine for alcohol and two for soft drinks on the second floor. One of the soft drink machines accepts electronic money. Check-out is between 7 AM and 10 AM. Considering it includes access to the hot springs and is room-only, the price seems reasonable, but I think there are still areas that could be improved.

I decided to treat myself and stayed here for about 17,000 yen, including dinner and breakfast. First of all, the room's facilities (air conditioner, air purifier, kettle, toilet) were so old that I wondered what era they were from. They weren't particularly quaint, and considering the price, I was very suspicious. Dinner was very delicious. The hot spring wasn't as good as I'd hoped, but it was still nice. From here on, I had a cockroach just as I returned to my room, so I immediately contacted the front desk. They came within about a minute, cleaned up and disinfected the room, and offered me the room next door. Because of this, I no longer wanted to touch any of the tea in my room, and I was worried that there might be something in my futon and the open-air bath was suspicious. I had come to relax, but I ended up not being able to rest at all, and it was already morning. I wanted to think that it was an intrusion from outside, but I also witnessed spiders spinning webs in the hallway, so I think it was a problem with the hotel's cleaning. Also, the person who helped me was a man, but since I was staying alone as a woman, I would have preferred to be served by a woman (although I feel bad for the man who helped me, as he was very polite). After G left, I didn't have much time to put away my underwear and other items I had left in my room before the staff member arrived, and I felt uncomfortable and uneasy about a man entering my room. When I checked out, they apologized for last night and gave me a complimentary 500 yen oolong tea with dinner as a small token of appreciation. They didn't see me off at all. I was really looking forward to it, so I'm very disappointed. For a stay at this price, I would strongly recommend looking at other facilities.

This was my first visit. It was my first girls' trip in a while, and I was a little worried about other reviews, but I arrived anyway. The exterior was beautiful, and although it felt a little old inside, it didn't bother me much. The female staff at the front desk when we checked in was very friendly, which warmed my heart. The hallways and rooms were renovated and clean, and the bed was comfortable and relaxing♪ and I slept soundly. It was a little chilly at night, and my friend was cold with just the air conditioning, so I borrowed a comforter from the closet. I wish we had brought a blanket. There are two baths, and although there is a large public bath on the second floor, there is only one, and it was cold and steamy. There was no drainage smell, and the water was just right, not too hot. Four of the faucets in the washing area were broken, and it seemed like the water drainage was a little poor. I think the water dispenser in the changing room should be fixed soon. The bath in the basement is an open-air bath. The atmosphere was nice, and there were two baths. You can't see outside, but my friend and I were talking about how well-built it is, looking at the riveting roof above. The lockers for the open-air bath cost 100 yen and are returned, so please bring your 100 yen coin with you. For dinner, we chose monkfish hotpot. We're small eaters, so there was more than we could finish. Breakfast was also delicious, with natto on straw and mixed grain rice. It was quiet at night, so we were able to relax. The female staff member serving the food was very nice, and the young part-time workers were also hard at work. It was a great hotel♪ Thank you very much.

We were looking for a place with a large pool that wasn't too far from northern Chiba Prefecture, and we found this place. We stayed there with our 6-year-old child. We stayed in a room with an open-air bath, and the room with the open-air bath was very spacious, allowing us to relax and enjoy it. It was much more spacious than it looked in the pictures. We thought a tent would be essential for the pool since it was summer, so we prepared one, but there was a space and room available for guests to rest (you can easily return from the pool), so I don't think it's absolutely necessary. Bath towels are also available for rent. The food was delicious. It wasn't a buffet, but the portions were generous and we were very satisfied. What I personally appreciated was that there was a space where we could use handheld fireworks. We can't do that on the apartment complex grounds, so it was a real treat. Our child was very happy. Fireworks can be purchased at the shop, and lighters and buckets are available for free. My only suggestion is that it would be nice if the hotel shop had snacks that children could eat (they have souvenir sweets), or if there were vending machines selling snacks and appetizers. It's great to have this available when I get a little hungry at night! Overall, I'm very satisfied! I would definitely like to use it again next year.

We used this hotel for a family trip. There was a Japanese-style lounge directly connected to the pool, exclusively for hotel guests. We could leave our luggage there and relax indoors. Inner tubes were also available for free rental. Our room was a Japanese-style room and was very clean. There were snacks and fireworks for children. At night, a fireworks set was placed in front of the hotel entrance for guests to use freely. The meals were incredibly generous in portion size. They even served rice balls as a late-night snack. Perhaps only during the summer, but the hotel also held a festival-like event. Shooting games, shaved ice, cotton candy, etc., were all free. Children even received rhinoceros beetles and stag beetles as gifts. It was a very comfortable hotel with excellent service.
