Ikawaonsen Konoyu Hot Spring

While running some business in Iizuka, I finally made a visit to the radon hot springs, Konoyu, for the first time in a while. ☺️ I remember the admission fee being around ¥6700 (five years ago), but it was only ¥830 for adults. 💦 The water is a radioactive cold mineral spring rich in radon, heated and circulated. I've heard it's effective for treating gout, diabetes, high blood pressure, atopic dermatitis, and more. 💡 The building is old and wooden, full of Showa-era retro charm, but it's cool with its high ceilings and exposed beams. ✨ The indoor bath is a spacious, impressive rock bath, complete with a jet bath and electric bath. There's also an open-air bath, but it's only a cold bath. 💨 A low-temperature sauna is also available, but I recommend the steam sauna, which emits hot steam from below (be careful of burns). ♨️ Body soap and rinse-in shampoo are provided. The entire space is glass-paneled, allowing for a view of the magnificent Japanese garden courtyard. The natural light lets in, creating a spacious, open-air feel. ☀ Perfect for relaxing. 😌🎶 Staff members clean the bath regularly, and it doesn't feel unclean, but... The changing room smells (smells similar to a shoe locker). ⤵️ Some people fill plastic bottles with hot water from the hot springs, and some have bad manners. 😒 Also available: a family bath (+400 yen), affordable accommodation for guests, a restaurant, a rest area, and a drinking fountain (100 yen for 10 liters) right in front of the entrance. 👍 There's free drinking fountain water in the lobby. It's been decades since I've been here Since high school I had nothing to do today, so I headed to a hot spring to soothe my muscles strained from chopping firewood. I wanted to do something nearby, and of the several options, I chose the radium hot spring. I'd only been there with a classmate in high school. Feeling nostalgic, I headed there, recalling hazy memories. I remember the rock bath, and the frustrating experience of trying to remove the women's bath. I arrived, but had no recollection of the entrance or the building. The fee was 830 yen. It seems expensive, but it can't be helped in this day and age. The interior is quite dilapidated. The front desk staff's service is anything but friendly. The lockers in the changing room are also worn out. I explored the surroundings before heading to the bath. The rock bath is large. Even though it's Sunday, it's a bit quiet. I took a relaxing bath. I also used the steam bath, but there weren't many people there, so I could relax. After a short soak, I headed to the lounge to study for tomorrow's exam. There weren't many people there either, so I was able to focus on my studies without any worries. I soaked up to my shoulders in the rock bath for the second time, warmed my body, and headed home on my motorcycle. Maybe it was thanks to the bath? I slept so soundly that night. It was a great holiday. The lack of people might be a problem for the business, but I think it's perfect for relaxing. I'll definitely stop by again ♨️ Thank you very much. May 14, 2025 I dropped in for a quick bath. The facility is located on a hill in a residential area. Parking is available in front and on the side. The facility itself is old and has been renovated, but there are still many historical touches. Shoe lockers and lockers in the changing room are free. There's also a 9-tatami locker room at the back of the changing room. The large bath is so immersed in the hot spring atmosphere that it's hard to believe there was such a historic hot spring so close by. Please refer to the analysis chart in the photo for the water quality. The water is excellent. The temperature is around 40 degrees, allowing for long soaks. One large bath has jets, an electric area, and free-flowing water. The sauna seats a maximum of 4-5 people, and the steam bath is particularly noteworthy. It's warmer than the sauna, and the steam erupts to raise the temperature when it drops. Outside the large bath, there's a cold bath, a chaise lounge with pillows, and a beautifully maintained garden. It was a great discovery for me to find such a paradise so close by. I'll be a regular.

I searched for hot springs on my way back from the Bikkuri Market in Nogata and found this natural hot spring ♨️. The price was reasonable, so I decided to give it a try. It's an old hot spring that only those in the know are aware of, and you can take a break there too. Medaka and baby goldfish greeted me at the entrance. By chance, I met the president, who was very friendly. There is only one large bath. The baths for men and women change daily. When I went, there was a sauna and a mist sauna. The water is great for hot spring lovers, and it's perfect for relaxing. Since it's a free-flowing water, there aren't many people, so the water is clean. It's also great for families with small children. You can drink the water and get snacks for free. You can also stay overnight. I recommend it for people who love natural hot springs. You can also purchase hot spring water at the entrance.

Iizuka's only public bath with a dining room. It's a bath, but it feels quite old. It seems like it's just water outside. There's only one rock sauna, so men and women can't enjoy it together. The steam bath? Sauna? seems to be quite popular. It's never crowded, and there are usually only a few people there, so I think it's a hidden spot. The dining room is also great. So far, I've only had the fried chicken (a la carte) and udon noodle champon, but The fried chicken was exquisitely seasoned and juicy. The other champon dishes use boiled noodles, but the udon uses frozen Inaba udon. It really captured my heart. After a quick bath, I'll have some fried chicken and wash it down with beer. After relaxing, I'll go back into the bath. Next, I'll have champon and milk. This image has become my life's work. When I want to truly relax or when I'm feeling frustrated, I go there to unwind.
