Itaniya Spa

- The lady at the counter was very friendly; just tell her you want to soak in the hot spring (ofuro!). The hot spring fee is 700 yen! They'll ask if you brought a towel~ (I brought my own, but I don't know if renting one costs extra). - The large public bath is on the second floor and is a certified hot spring. - Entry is at 4:30 PM! I only encountered two other guests in the women's bath~ The bath only has a large rectangular pool and floor-to-ceiling windows with a view of the mountains! Because the sun had already set, you could only see some mountain outlines; the view might be better if you come in earlier~ - The hot spring is very hot, and there's only one pool, so you can't switch to other types of baths XD, but the temperature was very comfortable, so I still lingered for a while~ - There are bright, colorful decorations on the left! - The changing room has lotion, facial cleanser, and makeup remover (?). The hairdryer's airflow is a bit weak but it gets very hot~ You need to bring your own comb! The bathroom has shampoo and shower gel (the scents are a bit old-fashioned 😆 no conditioner~)

The large, clean public bath and hot springs are wonderful. The meals are just the right amount to fill you up, and the sashimi is fresh and delicious. There are beautiful flowers arranged throughout the hotel. There's even a single flower in a vase in the guest room, which is very soothing. The rooms are spacious, clean, and relaxing. I booked through Jalan, but there was no mention of non-smoking. Well, in this day and age, it would be nice to have a smoking area, but it was outside on the garden, and it was locked. The waitress opened it for me, but the lock was removed again after dinner... It would be better if they just made the entire building non-smoking. I'll use this as a reference when choosing a lodging. I participated in the morning service at Hasedera Temple. I was grateful for the transportation. It was a very good experience.

We had lunch at Hasedera Yumoto Itaniya for our bus tour. Since it was a meal for a group tour, the taste and portion were to be expected. We had the Yamato duck set meal, but the tempura was completely cold, there was no tempura sauce, and the batter was heavily salted. In Western terms, it would be like having appetizers in a tiered box and the main course being the duck hotpot shown in the upper left. The portions were very small. We were allowed to have seconds of rice, so my husband ended up filling up on that. The food would probably be better if we were staying overnight, but you can't expect that on a bus tour.

I stayed here on my visit to the main temple. I made a reservation through the inn's website because it included a morning service and a mountain climbing ticket, which was a great deal. The building has a sense of history, but the baths and rooms were clean, and the customer service was excellent. They also kindly arranged a transfer between the station and the inn, which left me with the impression that there are no inns in the Kanto region that offer such service. The breakfast and dinner meals (kaiseki cuisine) were also delicious, and I ate everything. I plan to stay at Itaniya again next time.

We had the pleasure of staying at Itaniya for a reunion with former coworkers. This 100-year-old inn has been around for over 100 years. I was asked to play tenor saxophone in the large hall with a stage, and performed five pieces. 🎵 The chef must have put a lot of effort into preparing the spring-like dishes, and we enjoyed chatting about old times. Although it was only a short three hours, it was a very meaningful time, and I'm grateful for that! ️ We'll definitely stay overnight again, so we look forward to it!
