Kabe Onsen Ume no Yu Hot Spring

OMG this place is absolutely not on the radar. The onsen is located 1 minute walk from the train station. Connected is an aeon mall the an amazing bakery, coffee and astonishing sushi selections. So first the onsen located on the 5th floor. 950 yen plus a towel fee and razer if required. About 1200 yen total. There are about a dozen pools with minerals and various tempurtures. Two saunas. They even have the traditional milk in real glass bottles. After two days hiking Mitake mountain I was ready for any onsen. I kept my luggage in the small Onsen lobby for free but the train station has huge lockers for 500-800 yen. Afterwards I went to aeon mall 25 steps away and purchased lunch...all seafood sushi and grilled fish. The table fee at the cafeteria is 100 yen and includes chopsticks, wasabi, ginger and cold water. There is an amazing bakery 12 steps away so I purchased this totally delicious apple, walnut pastry with brewed coffee. Warning: don't eat like me as I gained 10lbs in 25 days!!!! I think it was all the Chanpon ramen? I LOVE JAPANESE FOOD! If I die here I would be so Happy 😊. Advice: don't go to the food court ..it sucks. Go to aeon on the 2nd floor and buy fresh sushi and fruits

Great, spacious rooftop onsen with a nice restaurant and large variety of baths for a good price, including a scented cedar bath and massaging jets. I often stop here on the way back from hiking in Okutama. The lockers are big enough for some backpacks but there is also a big shelf for hiking bags by the stairs leading up to the baths, as well as locked and unlocked umbrella stands where you can leave your umbrella/hiking poles. Photo is of the Katsu miso ramen, it was filling. Update: The restaurant has made service much more efficient with the addition of a ticket machine. Last order is still 9:30PM, however, they also decided to introduce a "night menu" from 8PM, which is very limited. I came at 8:05PM and was disappointed I could not order my favorite miso katsu curry.

Pros: Right next to the station, reasonably priced, option to BYO towels, value for money food sets, great view from the restaurant and rooftop baths, free wi-fi, decent sauna. Cons: sealed power points means you can't recharge, cash only, difficult pathways between baths leading to lots of awkward encounters, but this means each area feels more private. Not all baths are hot spring water, some are just heated well water. Because we went on a nice day, it was just as enjoyable to relax on the roof furniture as entering the baths.

Wow, this is such a great onsen spot! It’s super close to the station, just a 1-minute walk. I really loved the outdoor bath and the fact that the onsen is quite spacious, with plenty of indoor and outdoor baths to enjoy. You buy the ticket on the 5th floor, and the onsen is located on the 6th floor. There’s also a dining area and massage chairs on the 5th floor, which is a nice bonus. This place is definitely going on my list for next time I visit the area!

Came here after hiking around mount mitake. It was extremely rainy, I was cold and wet. Stopped in here for a bath and some ramen. For the price it was incredible. I stayed for about 2.5 hours and had a relatively cheap (and delicious) bowl of ramen after. Amazing warm baths, clean, milk vending machine. Lovely. Be warned there is not much English accessibility. All signs are in japanese, but if you can figure it out its well worth it!
