Kagaonsen Station

The station has both trams and Shinkansen bullet trains; it looks quite new. There are elevators but no escalators, so if you have luggage, please take the elevator. There's a large supermarket, Abio City Kaga, on the left-hand side of the south exit; it's a great place to shop.

The station is fun just to look around, with Yamanaka lacquerware, Kutani ware, and lion dance heads on display inside. I went to Yamanaka and Yamashiro, but I think I'll try visiting the other areas mentioned on the information board next time.

Perhaps because it's close to the heartland of Kutani ware, the station features an impressive display of pottery. While it's an unassuming station, it has a variety of eateries, from places serving local craft beer to stand-up udon noodle …
