Kakunodate Hot Spring

If you want a real Japanese experience with futons on the floor. Bathroom in the hall. And real ofuro or bath house... This is the place. Japanese breakfast included next door. They give you sandals to walk across there 2 building. Oh, no shoes allowed in the hotel. Take them off in special area in front of lobby. Was here during Sakura (Cherry blossom) season. Beautiful, authentic, out of a time capsule. Loved it! Highly recommend.

Very nice onsen. Super spacious and even has a sauna. I was here on a weekday afternoon and it wasn't crowded at all. Very relaxing experience, especially after exploring the town in the cold. Also they are tattoo-friendly! They said only small ones, mine are about postcard-size and they were fine with that.

The bath is indoors and nice enough to get cleaned up and soak. There's a comfortable lounge with drink machines. A small locker is provided in the changing room and the front desk was willing to watch my bigger luggage while I was there.

The onsen water is super hot (hello, Akita!), but it was relaxing and fun! My husband stayed red for 2 days after getting into the onsen here haha. Easily a highlight of our trip to Akita during cold, snowy winter of 2022.

Bath with towel -1200 yen . I was just waking around here and found it . I didn’t feel embarrassing because no people in daytime . Onsen was a bit hot , but nice . Staff was very kind :) thank you.
