Kamigata Hot Spring Ikkyu

I read the other reviews. It was not crowded when I came but there weren’t any tour buses dropping off large group of tourists. I understand that I’m giving it a high review while others may give it a low review based on their experiences. There were a lot of cool baths. I especially loved the tea bath. There was salt available to use as an exfoliator near the sauna. There aren’t any English directions that I can remember but the basic Onsen rules apply. Washing before you enter, etc. There was a language barrier but it seems like their tattoo policy is: if you’re a foreigner from a country where tattoos aren’t affiliated with gangs, the tattoo isn’t large, and it’s not on your arms, it’s okay. I did purchase their skin colored bandages and they told me to make sure to completely soak my body so that it’s not totally exposed at all times. I also brought a smaller towel that I could cover my back tattoo with but kept it on my head or on the side when I was in the bath. This was not a requirement.

Fairly decent super sento. The bath area is fairly large, with a good portion of it outdoors. There did seem to be a lot of bugs out and about, so watch out for that. In addition to the standard baths, there is also an electric bath (with pulses on the back), a sauna with cold bath, and a steam room. Access is pretty convenient through their shuttle buses, especially if you are coming after a day at USJ. Board from the bus stop on the ground floor at Hotel Kintetsu and you will be whisked away to Ikkyu to relax after a long day of walking and entertainment in USJ. There is also a cafeteria in the establishment with decently priced food, so eat up after soaking in the springs for a complete experience. There's also a relaxation area on the second floor.

This is a really good onsen. It has 2 distinct areas: wood and stone. Both are nice. Personally, I prefer the stone area because it has a better steam sauna and there are 2 large hot baths. The wood area has a better dry sauna, however. The restaurant has gotten more expensive and the menu could use an update. They do have seasonal specials which are good and change every month or so. It was refurbished about 2 years ago but they didn't redo the baths. There is also a massage centre which is really good (though not cheap). Overall, it's a nice place to relax, well worth a look

There is a shuttle bus from the designated location My favorite is carbonated bath You cannot enter the store if you have a tattoo. You can get rid of the fatigue of traveling and enjoy the daily life of the Japanese people.

Writing this while having a smoke barefoot in the smoking area, right after having ice cream from vending machines. I was apprehensive at first but their staff was super nice and i had a great bath. I'm a shy guy so it took some time, but when I approached the staff they were super accommodating. One of the senior staff spoke relatively ok english so that helped lots!
