Kamoda Misaki Onsen

January 3, 2026, Afternoon Bath I arrived around 1:30 PM and it was empty. The last 4-5 km or so to the facility? The roads are very narrow, so I recommend coming in a small car or motorcycle. My rental car was light, so it wasn't a problem at all. The entrance fee is 600 yen, there are free shoe lockers, 100-yen returnable luggage lockers, free valuables lockers, a basket for changing clothes, and conditioner-in-shampoo and body soap are provided. Today's men's bath is "Umigame-no-Yu," with one indoor bath. It's colorless, transparent, and unscented, and the water temperature measured just under 40°C on my own thermometer. There are nine washing areas with no partitions and one shower. The open-air bath has two tubs: the rectangular one is very shallow and has two waterfalls, while the oval one is normal depth and the water temperature was a lukewarm 38°C. The sauna's thermometer read 90°C, and the cold water bath was very small and cold, but you could still soak in it for a long time. There were two chairs and two benches in the open-air area, so you could relax in the open air. The view was nice, but it was a shame that you couldn't see anything once you were in the tub. The water temperature was low overall, so not enough for those who like hot water, but it wasn't crowded and I was able to spend about an hour relaxing there.

"Anan City: Kamoda Cape Hot Springs Recreation Center" I stopped by this spa on a motorcycle tour in January 2025. It's a reasonably priced hot spring where you can enjoy a sauna for just ¥600 per adult. There are multiple bathrooms, including an open-air bath. What I appreciated most about this spa was its close proximity to the campground and the availability of evacuation shelters in case of a tsunami. The spa is open from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM (last admission at 6:30 PM), so if you arrive late, it might be a good idea to take a bath first. The 26th of each month is "Bath Day," and the general bathing fee is ¥300 (half price). *If the spa is closed on the 26th, the 25th will be "Bath Day." Although I wasn't able to use it this time, there's also a cafe there during the day, where they apparently serve delicious set meals.

The 26th of every month is "Bath Day" General admission is 300 yen (half price). *If the 26th is a closing day, "Bath Day" will be held on the 25th. There's also a cafe during lunchtime where you can enjoy delicious set meals.

It's been about 10 years since I last visited. ♪ In the past, I'd eat lunch here, take a bath, watch sumo, take another bath, and then head home. I'd often spend the whole day relaxing here, and today was no exception. ♪ Time flies in the cascading bath, and before you know it, time has passed. ♪ In terms of comfort, I think this is the best place in the prefecture. ♪

If you are like me and like discovering places in more rural places in Japan, this onsen is well worth the scary drive. The view is amazing, there is an inside pool as well as two outside pools and a large sauna inside. Connected to the building is a café and there is a large resting area in the reception. Drive slowly and safely!
