Kasumiga Hot Spring

I went there around 7:30 on a weekday. I thought they were open until 8:30, but when I checked in, the staff member asked me, "Did you know they've shortened the closing time?" I thought I might as well give up if I couldn't make it, so I asked again at a different time, and they said it was 8:30. I asked what time it used to be, and they said, "I think it's always been 8:30." I think they should stop lying, as people will get the time wrong. It doesn't feel like a public facility. It's very convenient to be able to stretch my legs for just 200 yen. After all, it's a public facility. I think it's a wise use of tax money.

This is a hot spring (bath) located within a city sports facility. The water is refreshing, leaving your skin feeling smooth after bathing. The building has a modern design (with a slight Showa-era feel), and the interior is somewhat labyrinthine. The parking lot is very large, free, and easy to park in. The price of 200 yen for adults is incredibly cheap (as of March 2024). However, the only downside is that there's only a washing area and an indoor bath, so it feels more like a public bathhouse.

The entrance fee is 200 yen! This price in a major city is truly impressive, as you'd expect from Yamagata. Plus, shampoo and body soap are provided. The bathtub is fairly large, but there are only 8 faucets; however, the shower pressure is good. The bathwater is quite hot. It's a bargain at 200 yen for adults. I went there before lunchtime, and the changing room was already crowded. The washing area seems to be a line-up with chairs. It feels like the local regulars have the sway over the rules. The smell is like a bathroom in a nursing home. It's an uncomfortable place to be, and even though it's only 200 yen, I probably won't go there.

This hot spring is located inside the Yamagata City General Welfare Center. Hours are 10:00 AM - 8:30 PM. The admission fee is a generous 200 yen, 100 yen for children. It's cheap, but shampoo and body soap are provided. 🧴🧴 Hair dryers are provided. The water is a little warmer, but very refreshing. It's a city-run, unassuming hot spring, but it was a great one.
