Katsuyama Spa Center Mizubasho

Katsuyama Hot Springs Center "Mizubasho" This hot spring facility, located in Jodo-ji, Muraoka-cho, Katsuyama City, just off National Route 157, also offers overnight stays. It's managed and operated by Tokyu Resorts & Stays, the same company that operates the nearby Ski Jam Katsuyama, the largest ski resort in western Japan. I visited the facility at lunchtime on a weekend, before it started to get crowded. I purchased the "Empty-Handed Hot Spring Day Trip" package in advance using ASOVIEW's online ticketing service. It's convenient because you can access it through the Mizubasho homepage. Rental towels and bath towels were included, and I got a 20% discount off the regular price. Shampoo and body soap are provided, so you can drop in without bringing anything. Please note that there are no amenities such as hair styling products, brushes, or lotions, and hair dryers are available for a fee. It was renovated at the end of 2020, so it's very clean. With the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum nearby, the walls of the building and baths are covered with dinosaurs. A new hot spring source opened at the end of 2023, and the water is a sodium-chloride hot spring with a slightly viscous brown color. In addition to its skin-beautifying properties, it's also said to be good for cold sensitivity and fatigue. There is a sauna, but no open-air bath. It's a shame, as the autumn leaves visible from the lobby were beautiful. It was also a shame that there were no bubbles coming out of the foam bath connected to the large public bath (the jet bath was also out of order). But it's nice to be able to enjoy a natural hot spring at the price of a public bath.

This was my first time staying here. As the reviews said, it's a clean and tidy place. I got the impression that there were many couples with children. There was a toddler crying around 3 AM, so if you don't like noisy toddlers, you should probably avoid staying here. Of course, there were also elderly people, and some were going into the toilet barefoot without wearing slippers. The toilet itself was clean and didn't smell much. I had a room to myself and was only there to sleep, so I relaxed in the dining area. The food is easy on the stomach. If you want to drink alcohol, it's better to buy it outside. I think it's a comfortable place to stay, thank you.

Used on February 7, 2026 I used this place because I wanted to take a hot spring bath during my trip. Price: 670 yen for adults Parking: Available Amenities: Available (body soap, shampoo, conditioner) Indoor bath only The only hair dryer available is a Dyson dryer for 100 yen for 5 minutes (I think there was something written about the dryers at the counter...) Please check at the counter before you go. Otherwise, the bath water was reddish-brown in color due to the water quality. (This may not be to everyone's taste)

The iron oxide-colored chloride hot spring makes your skin smooth. The water temperature in the washing area is inconsistent, and the temperature display has disappeared, so it feels a little old, but I had a pleasant time. Oh, you can bring your own hair dryer, but there is a fee for installation.

It's been a while since I last visited since the COVID-19 outbreak. The lobby and dining room have been renovated, and have a very bright and cheerful atmosphere. The hot springs leave your skin feeling silky smooth after a bath. It also comes with a sauna, so the price is a bargain.
