Kawane Onsen Fureai no Izumi

The Kawane Onsen and pool is located right on the Oi River and adjacent to the train tracks. The pool is warm and includes several hot "spas" fed by the natural hot springs. The facility includes a restaurant /Japanese style cafeteria in which you choose your food and buy a ticket corresponding to your choice. You bring the ticket to the counter and they will bring the food to your table. (If you're obviously a foreigner like me they will have no trouble finding you.) I like the maguro-don. Don't miss the green tea, especially if you like it strong. Top quality green tea is grown in the Oigawa region.

True natural hot spring, slightly salty water from the mountain wells. Slight sulfur smell, feels great on your skin. This bath house is suggested locally to relieve body aches. There are two 41°C tubs, one indoor the other outdoor, a 44°, 43°, and ice water bath. No saunas. Old school onsen

I love it here for two reasons. Firstly, the hot spring is very nice; the water is slightly salty and is known as ancient seawater. This bath makes my skin smooth. Secondly, the open-air bath is large, offering many baths and various temperatures.

Went here with the local family I was staying with while in the area on a scout trip. Really recommend this to any tourists who want a relaxing time that is a little different. The bottled coffee was really nice here too. Very kind and welcoming
