きりん寺の油そば × 天葉の湯

It seems to have been renovated, and it's located on the second floor of Tenha no Yu. I entered the restaurant right when it opened at 11:30 on Saturday. I was told they were serving chanko nabe (sumo wrestler's stew), but I already knew that. I ordered the soy sauce chanko nabe. It arrived in a few minutes. I see, it uses solid fuel... So, you cook everything yourself. They placed a piece of paper on the table with instructions to read. "Put the meat in first and cook it thoroughly," etc. Well, I opened the lid and put in the meat. Hmm. It's not boiling. What do I do with these vegetables? There's a quarter of a cabbage, bean sprouts, burdock root, enoki mushrooms, etc. "Please let us know if you need more?" they asked. Solid fuel? It's nowhere near enough heat. There were no instructions, so it's no good. The taste is okay, but having to worry about the heat is unacceptable. Using solid fuel for the final udon noodles is unacceptable. The food was consistently lukewarm, not piping hot, which was disappointing. Some items weren't even cooked. I request improvements to the individual hot pots. The taste was good, and the ingredients were good. When I rang the bell to call for the final dessert (ice cream), the foreigner who had been chatting in the back room asked, "What's up?" Isn't that rude to the man who served us from the beginning? He was very polite and helpful. Despite some issues, the restaurant has been renovated, and the food was delicious. I wish they would stop using solid fuel. The man who served us was inexperienced, but I appreciate his consideration. The overall balance is slightly off.
I had a meal voucher I won in a gacha game, so after my bath I ordered a fried chicken set meal. The large portion of rice was the same price, so I ordered that, but the rice was absolutely terrible; it tasted like I was eating emergency rations. I've eaten out at many places, but this is the worst rice I've ever had. My wife ordered zaru soba, and that was awful too. I really hope they improve it. If they do, I might consider using their service again.
This restaurant is located inside Ama-no-Yu. We ordered their specialty, Abura-soba and Kitsune-udon. The Abura-soba was quite tasty, but the Kitsune-udon my wife had was more like soba than udon, which felt a bit different. I think restaurants inside hot springs should offer a wider variety of menu items.
The service was generally unfriendly. I called to order, but they didn't come (although the staff could hear me). They didn't even come to take my order, so I left without eating. The food looks delicious in the photos, but the service was just as described in previous reviews.
This oil soba restaurant is located inside Chomyoji Onsen, and although the menu isn't particularly extensive, I ordered oil soba and a pork bowl this time, which I personally thought was okay. I thought it was pretty good for a restaurant located inside a facility like this.
