Kitagawa Village Onsen Yuzu no Yado

Even during Golden Week, the rates were reasonable, it wasn't too crowded, and we had a comfortable stay. The hot springs are excellent, so it was bustling with day-trippers, but late at night and in the morning, it was quiet with only overnight guests. The silky-smooth 100% natural hot spring water, the clean, stylish rooms with a woody scent, and the delicious food were all fantastic! The staff provided subtle yet attentive hospitality, making it a very comfortable place to stay. The bed was comfortable, the pillows were adjustable and foldable, and there was a separate door to the bedroom in addition to the main room entrance. Closing it blocked out the noise from the hallway, so it was quiet at night and we slept soundly. Also, there's an alcohol vending machine in the building, and the prices were more reasonable than other accommodations. The nearby Monet's Garden was extremely crowded during Golden Week, so we didn't go; instead, we visited the Nakaoka Shintaro Museum. I was deeply moved to learn that the delicious yuzu citrus fruit, a specialty of Kitagawa Village and the namesake of this hotel, was first cultivated by Shintaro Nakaoka, the heir to the headman of Kitagawa Village. I'm very happy to have made such wonderful memories in Kitagawa Village, nestled in the mountains during the season of fresh greenery. -------------------------------------- I revisited in September and was able to visit Monet's Garden the next morning. The menu changes with the seasons, and everything was delicious as always!

It was a beautiful inn. My parents booked a room with a private bath, and we booked one without. The room with a private bath had a lovely, warm bath with natural hot spring water. The room was also spacious, the equivalent of a whole room, and very relaxing. The room without a private bath only had a bedroom, so there was quite a difference. I would definitely recommend the private bath (^^) The meals were unique, featuring ingredients that made the most of the ingredients, and stylishly presented dishes. I thought there was a wide variety of dishes, with small portions. It was all delicious. We ate in the dining room. The large public bath had good quality water and a bright atmosphere. There was also an open-air bath, so we were able to relax in it. The inn was clean and tidy. Although it was fully booked, there were not many guests, so we were able to relax. The view of the mountain stream from the window was very relaxing. (^^)

It was serene. The onsen experience was great. I enjoyed the breakfast. The staff are helpful. The only thing I reckon as a problem though was the access to food. Their restaurant is not open for lunch and dinner (maybe because of COVID? I am not sure). There were no restaurants literally outside the hotel. You have to drive around 25-40 minutes to find one or go to the nearest convenience store. It was too dark and scary to drive at night. I had anxiety going back and forth. But the morning view is breathtaking. The beds are comfortable; I had a good sleep. The room is huge.

I stayed for one night in late December. This is a lovely inn where you can feel the warmth of wood. I was able to relax in a warm room. The water in the large public bath was so thick, it felt like you had just washed away lotion. My skin felt so moisturized after my bath. The meals were all exquisite, using the local yuzu fruit. I'm grateful for the attentive service of the staff. I'd like to stay here again.

It's a bit of a challenge to get there by driving along the narrow national highway, but it's well worth the trip. I stayed in a room with a hot spring, and the water was nice and warm. It's a small, clean inn, the food is delicious, and the quiet room was relaxing.
