Kitamura Onsen Hotel

It's a 12-minute drive from JR Iwamizawa Station. There's a spacious parking lot right in front of the hotel. My partner visited for the first time to enjoy crucian carp fishing. I was the only one who enjoyed the day-trip hot spring. Day-trip bathing is available from 6:00 AM to 11:30 PM. Adults: 650 yen The hot spring source is right behind the hotel, and the water is poured directly into the bathtub. It's truly a high-quality hot spring with a strong salt content, straight from the source. Apparently, it's 43°C. It warms your body from the inside out, keeping you warm for a long time. It leaves your skin feeling silky smooth. Enjoy the indoor bath, sauna, and open-air bath. You can also enjoy a rock sauna for an additional 90 minutes for 600 yen. The facility is immaculately cleaned, spacious, and comfortable. There's also a women's-only lounge, where you can relax in peace and quiet. Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap are provided. Rentals are available, but it's best to bring your own towels and indoor wear. The atmosphere is calming, surrounded by nature. It's also nice that it's not too crowded. Visited on a Sunday in October 2025. Next time, I'd like to try the weekday lunch and day-trip bathing package.

After touring hot springs all over Hokkaido, I finally found the one that impressed me the most. The facility is quiet and clean, and there is a spacious rest area where you can relax. The quality of the hot spring water is particularly noteworthy, as it warms you from the inside out and allows you to spend a comfortable and relaxing time. The shop stocks famous sweets and breads from all over Hokkaido, and the attentive service from the staff also made a great impression. The restaurant is similarly quiet and clean, and you can enjoy delicious food accompanied by attentive service. I have visited many hot springs, but this one is number one in my opinion. It is such an amazing hot spring that I would rather keep it a secret, but I would like to share its charms here.

I stopped in for a day trip on my way back from clearing snow. The cost was 650 yen. The strong saline hot spring really warmed my chilled body to the core. It's probably not something outsiders should be so upset about, but many local regulars are probably concerned about the manners of their regular customers. During my hour-long bath, one after another, people with tattoos and Japanese tattoos came in, and no staff came to reprimand them. Perhaps it's because they're all local regulars? With such good water, I feel like if the customer base improves, this could become the best hot spring facility.

The price hike finally hit Kitamura on April 1, 2026! 😢 The price went up 100 yen from 650 yen to 750 yen! Plus, the opening hours have been shortened...😭😭😭 Overall, it's a great hot spring to relax in, so I go there every time I have a day off, even though I'm from Sapporo, as if it were a short drive. If there's one thing that stands out, it's the cold water bath in winter, which is extremely cold. It's more than just cold, it hurts. 😅 It's so similar to the experience of being thrown into the ocean in winter and gradually losing control of your arms and legs... (lol)

I occasionally use this bathhouse for day trips. They advertise a temperature of 43°C, but I find it more salty than that. It warms me up nicely in the cold season. That's why I don't go there much in the summer. I'm attaching this link because they've announced that they'll be shortening their day trip opening hours and raising prices. I can't help the price increase, but the shortened hours will have an impact. It's a shame, because I often drive all the way here after work, feeling reassured that they're still open.
