神戸六甲温泉 濱泉

The facilities and the hot spring water are excellent, but the poor manners of the users are a real shame. As a sauna enthusiast, I stayed at the Sheraton for two nights and used the Hamasen hot springs day, night, and morning. There were always many people bathing with their hair down, even in the bathtubs (children and adults alike)... even those with their hair tied up (like ponytails) ended up with their hair submerged. The water is cloudy, making it hard to see, but there was a lot of hair in both the indoor and outdoor baths. There were also children who looked too young to be potty-trained, even after 11 PM and at 5:30 AM... both the indoor and outdoor baths were incredibly dirty. The rinsing area is also hot spring water, so that's the only part that felt safe to use. While it's understandable that the water might get a little dirty given the hotel's large number of families with young children and multi-generational households, it was far from what you'd expect from a hotel hot spring. The clientele felt more like a public bathhouse. They should invest a little money to improve user manners, perhaps by asking guests to tie their hair up or providing more hair ties as amenities. Oh, the private bath was clean and comfortable, and the spa living area even had delicious milk available, so I was very satisfied.
The large public bath is great, both the atmosphere and the water. The washing area was crowded at night, but not to the point of having to stand and wait. Even with a few people, I was able to relax comfortably. The cold bath wasn't ice-cold, but it didn't smell of chlorine and felt nice. The large public bath gets 4 stars. I also used the private bath. The changing room was spacious and had a refrigerator with complimentary ionized water. Only a small amount of water was coming out of the spout, and perhaps because it was the last bath of the day, it didn't feel fresh at all... I wonder if it's not the same free-flowing water as the large public bath? The feeling of the water moving was weak, and I couldn't appreciate the advantage of the small bathtub. Perhaps because my expectations were high, I felt like, "Hmm, 5000 yen for this?" so I gave it 2 stars.
For me, this is the best hot spring in the Kansai region. The 100% natural hot spring water is directly from the source, so it really helps to relieve fatigue. You can recline in the mist sauna, The water in the cold bath is clean and there are no strange things floating in it, The cleanliness and interior are both top-notch. This is a hot spring that everyone should visit at least once. The shampoos and other amenities are all top-notch. There's a fireplace in the rest area, so you can relax as long as you like and they serve free corn tea. It's free for hotel guests, 2,000 yen for Higashinada Ward residents, and 2,800 yen for the general public. It's very cheap.
Non-guests can also use the hot spring from 12:30 PM. The usual price is ¥2,800, but Higashinada Ward residents and restaurant patrons receive a ¥2,000 discount. The best time to visit is after 3:00 PM, when check-ins are most frequent. The hot spring water, pumped from 1,600 meters underground, is slightly cloudy and salty. It reminds me of the Kinsen hot spring at Arima Onsen, but doesn't seem to contain any iron. It stays warm even after a bath. The corn tea after a bath is delicious. This is a calm, quiet, and elegant hot spring at a hotel. Kobe City will soon (spring 2023) build a foot bath using this hot spring water in the River Mall outside the hotel.
The hot spring itself is very good. However, the level of civility of a certain segment of the clientele is so low It makes me feel sad every time I see it. Even though they're just regular customers, they walk right through the lobby and into the private lounge for guests on the hot spring floor... Perhaps because many guests were taking large amounts of drinks from the lounge, there are warning signs and even surveillance cameras installed. It's really unpleasant to see surveillance cameras in the lounge after you've just taken a bath. It's such a shame.
