小糸川温泉

I decided to go because it's the closest free-flowing hot spring from the city center ✌ I arrived around 11am, and as expected on a weekend, the parking lot in front of the store was full with only 9 cars 😱 I parked in the premises next door, and most of the cars there didn't have Sodegaura license plates 😅 I chose the [bath fee + barley and grated yam set meal] as I was told to choose before entering the bath, so I just went for a bath 🥴 There were already 5 people in the bath and 1 person was waiting - it was cold 🥶 If there were more than 5 boxes in the changing room, I would have waited without taking off my clothes 😅 Finally, the right-hand side of the water outlet opened up, and when I got in, it was quite hot 😲 The left side was lukewarm, so I left a spot on the right side where it was just the right temperature 👍 The water was odorless, black, and slippery, and it felt like it clung to me, so I was warmed up nicely 🤩 It didn't feel like the free-flowing bath was overflowing⁉️ Since there were no people there, it's bad manners to take photos around the bath 🤬

This is a black hot spring♨️ where the water flows directly from the source. I was drenched in sweat after touring the Nami no Ihachi shrines and temples under the scorching sun, so I arrived 30 minutes before closing time. While Chiba Prefecture is home to many black hot springs, this one is truly refreshing. The slimy water seems to be good for the skin. The water is a sodium chloride, bicarbonate spring, and is said to be effective for wounds, burns, gynecological disorders, neuralgia, and poor circulation. There were two bathtubs, but the smaller one was empty. There are also two washing areas, so you may have to wait in line when it's busy. I went just before closing time, and three people had just left when I switched, so I had the tub all to myself. I've soaked in many black hot springs in Chiba Prefecture, but I highly recommend this one. It has a small, cozy feel, blending in with the natural beauty of the satoyama area.

A day-trip hot spring built like an old Japanese house. Kuroyu hot springs are famous in Chiba, but the Kuroyu water here, which flows directly from the source, is particularly excellent. You can feel the slippery texture from the moment you step in. There is one indoor bath and it is a decent size, but the bathroom is small and there are only two or three showers, so you may have to wait. Be careful, as the water coming out of the faucet in the bath is almost boiling. The side with the faucet is hot and the other side is lukewarm. It's nice that you can use the rest area for free, and from November you can also get a barley and yam set meal made with wild yam for a limited time. There are lockers at the reception where you can return your valuables for 100 yen.

Visited January 5, 2026, 2:30 PM It wasn't crowded on a weekday, but there were a few people trickling in. Parking for 9 cars. There was also a bicycle parking area at the back of the parking lot. There was a place to lie down. Five or six tables with cushions, and one table with chairs. Towels were available for purchase. No vending machines. Drinks were sold at the reception desk. Soaking in the center of the men's bath, you could see the sky through the window. The view wasn't particularly great, except for the grass being cut, but it was somewhat open. The water was pitch black and slippery, and if you submerged your hand 20cm, it would disappear. Although it's not visible, there is a step when entering the bath, so be careful. The bottom is flat.

I used it on Sunday. It seems to be open only on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. Price: 900 yen. Tattoos: No. The bath is indoors only and not very large. There are two washing areas. The water is dark and less than 30cm deep, making it impossible to see anything. It's odorless and smooth. The temperature is normal and seems to be heated. They say it's a natural hot spring, and the water was coming out of the faucet. I wondered if it would turn black if it came into contact with air. I was the only customer, but after about 10 minutes, three more people arrived, and it became quite cramped. The color of the water was striking, and the water didn't seem bad, so I think people would enjoy it. I'll stop by again on my way back from hiking.
