Koyama Onsen Dome

I've been invited by an acquaintance to use the bathhouse several times. It's pleasant during quiet times, but the atmosphere changes considerably outside of those hours. No one notices children running around wildly, and adults are talking loudly to each other. Even in the sauna, loud chatter continues throughout, and I didn't sense any consideration from the other guests. Since many people use saunas to relax, perhaps they should be more conscious of etiquette. What bothered me even more was the large number of people who appeared to be regulars wearing slippers inside the bathhouse. While I understand the concern for infectious diseases in a public bath, I wonder how the hygiene of the slippers themselves is managed. I'm not even sure if this is permitted by the facility. I also saw cleaning staff chatting with bathers for long periods of time, which raised concerns about the bathhouse's management system. It may be used as a place for local interaction, but it seems like a tough environment for those looking for a quiet bath. I had just begun to feel closer to Takayama Town's hot springs, and my acquaintance who invited me seemed apologetic. It's surprisingly far from Kanoya city to take a hot spring bath, so I'd like to try a place a little closer.

The family bath is 2000 yen ^^ My family and I went to the family bath, but it seems they don't even allow bath bombs, even the size of a bubble bath for home use!! Just to clarify, there's no mention of bath bombs being prohibited!! I've used it before, but the staff didn't say anything. Then suddenly, they called and said, "The next customer can't enter! If this happens again, you'll be banned!" I wiped it out before leaving the bath, but most of the bubbles had disappeared!! What on earth is going on? I don't understand, lol. Did the man who called me check the inside carefully? It would be surprising if he complained without checking, lol. If he was going to complain, he should have just said from the beginning that bath bombs and the like were prohibited, right? I don't understand why he called this time, so mad. My child was depressed, saying it was his fault 😊 It's a really nice hot spring!! The toilet paper wasn't folded into a triangle, the shampoo and conditioner were facing left and right, there was hair falling out, the heating wasn't on, and I was the one who wanted to complain, lol.

Mid-July 2023 I ate at the cafeteria for the first time. I had curry to soothe my hangover. 🍛 I felt the true essence of curry: it's just right. My stomach settled, and the bath soaked the alcohol, leaving me feeling refreshed. (ﾟ∀ﾟ) Mid-June 2022 Apparently, on the 26th of every month, it's only 170 yen for adults ^_^. Normally, it's 330 yen for adults... No need to go out of your way to half price, it's already cheap... Thank you, Onsen Dome. The restaurant has reopened. The steam from the hot springs is amazing. It's a shame they've removed the open-air bath, so there's no space to get some fresh air. If they could make it so you could go out to the courtyard naked, I'd give it a +1 star (╹◡╹)☆ The tatami lounge is mostly free. It would be convenient if they had towel blankets or something. 2021 It was recently renovated, so it's looking great. The quality of the spring is just right, being carbonated. The dome-shaped bath has a high ceiling, so the steam feels great! The cafeteria is closed due to COVID-19. The rest room is also spacious and nice.

I usually use this bathhouse when I need to use a hot spring facility. The only downside is that it's a bit far from my home, but I like that the bath area is spacious and clean since the renovation. The entrance fee of 330 yen for adults and 150 yen for children feels like a bargain, especially with the recent rise in prices (there seems to be an annual pass for frequent users). Incidentally, on the 26th of every month, which is Bath Day, they offer a 50% discount on admission. However, please be aware that it can get crowded depending on the time of day due to the large number of users!

The water is slightly alkaline and leaves your skin feeling a little smooth. It's a water-added, heated, and circulating filtration type. There are no soaps or other toiletries in the bathroom. One push of the hot water dispenses about half a basin. One push of the shower dispenses water for about 2-5 seconds. Some faucets allow you to adjust the flow yourself. There is a sauna with far-infrared rays and a eucalyptus leaf steam sauna. The open-air bath is circular.
