KUSAMAKURA

Very authentic onsen bathhouse. The outdoor onsen has an absolutely stunning view. Came during June at 10am opening hours and it was rather windy with very light rain. So the onsen was perfect. Everything is pay as you use (but not expensive.) 600yen to enter. Towels for 250yen. The shampoo and body soap is provided but doesn’t have conditioner. 10 yen for the lockers if u have any valuables. Facilities may not be as grand but it’s generally well maintained and visited by the locals. Good spot to visit you like something off the beaten track. The route to come here from Kumamoto is super winding mountain road but the view is breathtaking. The mountains is filled with many orange trees so if come at the right season, you can also do orange picking! 🍊

We went there on a rainy day and I can not explain how beautiful and relaxing it was. This spa has good facilities like Sauna and different types od baths, but the best part is obviously the outside bath, the scenery is beautiful and the water temperature is properly adjusted to let you stay longer. We have spent 2hours there which is the longest time for me to be inside an onsen till now. A nice restaurant is also inside so after a relaxing bath you can enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine too.

Set in the middle of orange orchards, the views from this onsen are insane. Onsen facilities are decent, but you get amazing views both from the inside and rotenburo. Highly recommend timing your visit to catch the sunset views of Unzen! A hidden gem that seems to be more of a local spot than touristy destination. Very clean and well maintained as well. A bit out of the way, but well worth the drive!

Restaurant seem to have been closed for long time, the water features are OK. The best feature without doubt is their outdoor bath.the staff is very kind. For the price point is not bad

It's a beautiful view. The cost is 500 yen to use the bath which is quite reasonable. The facilities are a bit outdated, but I don't think that that is an issue for so many people.
