La Pause Kawada

Located in the lush mountain village of Kawada in Sabae City, Kawada Onsen La Pose Kawada is a hot spring facility offering a rare combination of sodium bicarbonate and Glauber's salt springs, known for its exceptional skin-beautifying and moisturizing properties. In addition to the large communal bath, open-air bath, and sauna, I enjoyed a relaxing time in the open-air bath overlooking the forest. The rooms, primarily Japanese-Western, have been renovated and are clean, with Wi-Fi available for your comfort. Both dinner and breakfast dishes, featuring local ingredients, are visually stunning and first-rate in taste. The thoughtful touches, such as board game rentals, were especially appreciated by families. Many day-trippers visit, and the resort can get crowded at night, so if you're looking for a quieter bath, it's best to come after 9:00 PM. The resort also offers a wide variety of hands-on activities, including bread making, soba noodle making, and barbecuing, making for a truly enjoyable stay. This was a truly satisfying hot spring inn, offering both relaxation and a truly enjoyable experience.

This is my second time staying at this hot spring hotel. Each room was quiet and peaceful, allowing me to relax and enjoy my stay. It was a very satisfying experience. The hot springs were of high quality, making it the perfect environment to soothe the fatigue of everyday life. However, one thing that bothered me was that I found the stairs a little inconvenient. Also, unfortunately, it seems that the two-room plan is no longer available, which may be a bit disappointing for families or groups. Still, the quietness of the rooms, the service, and the hot springs were all very satisfying, and overall this is a hotel I would highly recommend. If I have the opportunity to visit the area again, I would definitely like to stay again.

I only used the hot spring facilities. Therefore, I gave the guest rooms and service 3 stars. Although it's located in the mountains, the access road to the facility is wide and free from traffic jams, so I gave it 4 stars. Perhaps because I visited on a Sunday, there were a fair number of people. I think it's been open for about 30 years, but the facility is generally kept clean. The indoor hot spring is slightly larger than similar facilities in Fukui Prefecture. The open-air bath is also spacious. The relaxation area is also large, so I would recommend it to those who want to relax in a rural hot spring.

A great place to visit. We stayed in their homestay as well. A good way to explore the Japanese hospitability and local cuisine. You will also experience sleeping in traditional hapanese fashion. We were in a very big group and they could manage all of us. The onseen was also a good experience. We were lucky enough as the outdoor onseen had view of beautiful snow covered mountain and trees. Eating icecream after onsen was the most charismatic experience. They have many vending machine inside the building. Do take your towel or purchase it at the counter.

As Tsutsuji Civic Hall was under construction, we decided to go to La Pose with our group. The sauna was over 90°C, the cold water bath was ice-cold, and the open-air bath allowed us to relax while enjoying nature. However, the locals were having a lively conversation in the open-air bath, so we gave up on joining in. There was a TV in the sauna, but you had to look to the side to watch it, and it was difficult to hear because of the locals' conversations, so it was disappointing in many ways.
