まほろば温泉菟狭

A day-trip hot spring near the sports complex. The spring water is a sodium-magnesium bicarbonate spring. Only a portion of the hot spring analysis report is posted, so details such as water temperature and pH are unknown. My personal opinion is that it's weakly alkaline, the water temperature is low, and it seems to be heated and circulated. This is purely my personal impression and speculation. The reddish-brown scale and the cloudy greenish-white water have the distinctive atmosphere of a bicarbonate spring. Body soap and rinse-in shampoo are provided. There are also hairdryers. The changing room uses a basket system for clothes, but there are also lockers with locks. The bath area is spacious, with a considerable number of washing stations, and feels clean. It's reasonably priced and located away from the main street, so it's popular with locals. The enka music in the background makes sense! There are a few parking spaces in front, and a second parking lot in the back. There's also an entrance to the building on the second parking lot side, so you don't necessarily need to park in the front.

I visited the facility around lunchtime on a weekday. The local customers, who appeared to be regulars, were very loud in their private conversations, and despite a notice asking people to refrain from loud conversations, it seemed like they were just making a point of not doing so. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this facility to people who value manners or who prefer quiet. The floor was also quite slippery, and I felt like I might fall. It's a level of safety that makes me concerned about the facility as a bathing facility. Furthermore, the open-air bath didn't seem to be in operation, and there was no clear advance notice, which was very disappointing. I think many people come to enjoy the open-air bath, so this is a big drawback. The fee is 550 yen, but it feels a bit pricey considering the condition of the facilities and the environment. Considering the service, around 400 yen would probably be more appropriate. Unless things improve, I'm unlikely to return.

Mahoroba Onsen Usa in Usa City, Oita Prefecture, is a hot spring facility where you can enjoy a day trip. The staff are friendly, and the welcoming atmosphere is charming. This relaxing hot spring spot is a great way to end your Usa trip. The "Usa hot spring area" is mentioned in documents from the Nara period, and it is said that this area has had a long history of hot spring culture. The name "Mahoroba" also means "wonderful place," giving it an ancient ring to it. It's a great place.

It's good, but... there's some skin floating in the water... and it's noisy when kids walk around. Well, it definitely can't beat the health center!! The health center is the best!! You can use the baths and saunas as much as you want for the entrance fee! Plus, they make the food from scratch, and the sauna is effective! And you don't have to carry your wallet around all the time, the payment is made when you leave with the key they give you! 🤣 The water is clean and well-maintained! The water is running so the dirty water flows away, which is reassuring, but here, the water is just sitting there without running, and if you look closely, you can see human skin floating in it. That's a bit much.

It's a carbonated spring, but I don't think there's much bubbles. The water is lukewarm and a little brown. I think the spring quality is good. The sauna was crowded with locals, so I was about to give up, but someone said they were leaving and gave me their seat. The cold bath is good. Shampoos and hair dryers are available.
