Maenohara Onsen Sayano Yudokoro

This was my first experience at an osen and I loved it! It’s a 10 minute walk from Shimura-Sakaue Station (Mita Line, I-27, exit A2) and it hardly feels that long at all since it goes by a lovely park you can observe while passing. I went on the weekend in the evening thinking it would be less foot traffic(?) and I’d say it was busy but not overwhelmingly crowded. Changing rooms in general, no need to be shy everyone is very nude and nobody cares or is staring at you so embrace it even if it’s intimidating at first. The towel set for rent comes with a body towel and a small face towel; next time I’m bringing a smaller body towel from home since that really is enough for me when the only purposes of the towel is to cover up parts of your body out of modesty sake while walking about and for drying off. General warning for the osen, the water is SUPER HOT and will dehydrate your body so do not push your body (20 minutes is PLENTY plenty of time) or you might have trouble walking immediately after like I did😅. Rest, trying a “coffee milk” to cool down and lying down in the tatami mat area (outside of changing rooms) is simply bliss. I’m personally not a coffee enjoyer but the flavor of milk and coffee is neither overpowering for each and the drink is the perfect amount of sweetness as a whole that I truly recommend at least giving a try💞💞💞. I think other services such as a massage are well reasonably priced. When I go again I’d be happy to try aromatic therapy or another practice foreign to me, but not every visit I feel needs to have the extras to be already very satisfied (which is a positive thing). Food is amazingly good, one of my favorite meals of my life honestly. Though I could understand very little and not speak any Japanese the staff at the serving area (and at reception desks) worked easily with me to make sure my order was what I wanted and fulfilled. Payment is super easy, the machine takes cash and card and all payments throughout the visit are charged to your shoe locker key so you pay it all at the end. Machine languages are Japanese and English but staff will help if they see you are still having trouble. Efficient and welcoming to osen first timers, had a wonderful time. 💝☺️

Firstly, I want to say the staff were extremely nice, welcoming, and friendly ❤️ Today I came with my mom and I wanted to show her different parts of Japanese culture by letting her experience her first authentic Japanese onsen. I was a little disappointed she didn't even try after coming all this way, and normally the entry fee is automatically charged, but the staff said it's OK, so they waived the fee for my mom because she never used the onsen and I'm very grateful 🙏🏻🙇🏻♂️💦 Secondly, the facilities are AMAZING!!! ⭐️ Your first swt of keys (for your shoe locker) has a digital wallet which you total up and pay at the very end. After you remove all your clothes in the changing room (I am speaking for the men's side), you keep the 2nd keys for locker with you and enter the actual onsen. Inside, you see the typical small chair, bucket, free shampoo, bodywash, and conditioner on each Station. After quickly washing off, there are A TON of onsen pools. Far left are the initial starter-pack hot pools — big enough for several people. Far right are the next hottest seated, jet-propulsing baths. Exiting on the left side door Leads to the outdoor onsens. 1 big circular super hot onsen. Following the outdoor onsen path, are 2 green-bathed wooden-style onsens — these are less hot but much nicer because they're for 1 person each. Last but saving for the best is this row of granite floor beds with a round marble pillow. This style is for sleep-relaxing so the water covers half of your body when you're lying down backside. It's nice for a relaxing sleep 😴 Back on the inside, the sauna is extremely hot. Simple television channel. No complaints about the sauna 🧖🏻♂️ There is also a vending machine for different bottled glasses of milk 🥛 The visit is meant for 1 hour only. At the end, the first key you get is for payment. The price was VERY reasonable. Next time I am back in Tokyo, I would love to come back to Maenohara Onsen again 😊 I would give this onsen 10 stars if I could because they deserve it for all their hospitality and the little inconvenience we may have caused this morning 🙇🏻♂️⭐️

Beautiful spa, full services, we visited in afternoon October 2024. Cameras not allowed so these pictures from the website and I can attest they are accurate. There are multiple baths to soak in with different temperatures, water pressure jets, etc. For me the best part were the outdoor spas. I loved the lying-down soak where you could just fully relax surrounded by shallow hot water to keep you comfortable, the stone ringed pools, and the single tubs for a deep hot soak. There is a lot to do here, we got massages which were very good, and as a bonus the restaurant is also delicious. I highly recommend this place for a lovely relaxing time at a reasonable price. It’s very family friendly, but very busy on the weekends (with lots of kids) so to avoid crowds come mid-week.

This place has offered me such a pleasant and memorable experience. I felt as if I had travel to a different space and time allowing myself to relax as I have never done before. The facilities are simply spectacular, the system is quite easy if you are a worried about not speaking Japanese (and there is also staff that’s speaks in English). The whole place felt so complete, it truly doesn’t left any need unsatisfied. It is convenient but also very traditional. As a foreigner having the opportunity to have this experience left me with both such a sense of responsibility for respecting and experiencing such beautiful traditions and contribute to preserve this incredible culture.

The women here were so welcoming I felt like I was in a Japanese movie and nothing about me being smart Ivan even mattered at that moment. Staff were so helpful accommodating any needs that I may have had. The hot springs made me cry my sorrow out. That was exactly what I was looking forward to with my healing experience. Massage was crazy amazing she massaged the tears from my chest out of me. I love it here. I was nervous at first about undressing because I am a plus size girl and I am brown skin so I felt out of place at first but once I remove my clothes, all embarrassment left my body and I felt natural. I plan to come back in the near future.
