満天の湯 食事処 季膳房

This is a restaurant attached to the "Manten no Yu" super public bathhouse. Because the bathhouse itself is quite large, the restaurant is also quite spacious. There are table seats and tatami mat seats, and the tatami area is particularly spacious. There are no terrace seats, but you can see the outside from the windows. It can be quite bright depending on the time of day. You cannot use the restaurant while wearing your sauna wear. If you arrive wearing it, you will be turned away at the door. This is quite annoying. Ordering is done verbally, but you need to look into the kitchen, speak to a waitress, and after ordering, you are given a small buzzer to wait at your seat. The buzzer rings when the food is ready, and you go to pick it up. Payment is made after the meal using a wristband. This is the only hassle-free aspect, and the only saving grace. Condiments are not on the tables; they are all gathered in one place in front of the kitchen. If you run out of soy sauce during your meal, you will need to go and get more. We ordered draft beer, sake, seared bonito, chicken nanban, and zaru ramen. The quality of the food was about average to below average. The bonito slices were the same thickness as a 100-yen coin, but everything else was generally acceptable. Given the price, I really hope they hire some better waiters.

The food is too expensive. A large serving of Nishiyama Seimen Tanmen is ¥1,580 (tax included). A large serving of Nishiyama Seimen Miso Ramen is ¥1,200 (tax included). At the super public bath near my house, Tanmen with lots of vegetables or Miso Ramen is ¥880 (tax included). A large serving is ¥200 (tax included). One topping is ¥100 (tax included). Char siu is ¥200 (tax included). For the same price, I wonder how much more luxurious the ramen I could get... They don't allow you to bring your own food, and there's a lot of wasted space. ◎ Maybe it's better to eat at your favorite place before going in, take a bath, and take a nap.

The mapo tofu was way too salty and spicy! The spiciness completely overwhelmed the flavor and richness, leaving me with a stomach ache both after and the next day. It's so strong, it's hardly a good snack to go with alcohol. I also tried the yakisoba, but the flavor was weak and the chili peppers had a hard, unsettling texture. I wish they'd added shichimi or chili threads. I can't believe they charged almost 1,000 yen for this dish. I was disappointed they couldn't make the portion a little smaller and the seasoning a little milder.

The Japanese-style karaage chicken was overly salty; despite having Japanese-style sauce, there was still a lot of salt added, making it feel like just salty karaage chicken with added sauce. The eggplant and pork donburi was delicious, on the sweeter side, and highly recommended.

The system registers your order on a wristband after you enter. Rice bowls and set meals range from 1000 to 2000 yen. The portions are generous and the food is generally delicious. The photo shows the adult-sized katsudon for 1200 yen.
