Visited "Masuto no Yu" on October 23, 2024. Open 11:00-22:00, last entry 21:00. Adult admission 770 yen, cash, credit card, and electronic payment accepted. Free shoe lockers and changing room lockers. Body soap, shampoo, and hair dryers available. Indoors: carbonated spring bath, saltwater bath, Finnish sauna, cold bath. Outdoors: open-air bath (with jet bath), reclining bath, outdoor relaxation area, 5 chairs, 3 benches, and 2 reclining chairs. Opened in 2007. Completely destroyed in the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 2011, but rebuilt in June 2021 after 10 years. The facility was still new, clean, and well-maintained. While this is a bathing facility and not a natural hot spring, the saltwater bath and carbonated spring bath give it a similar feel to a hot spring. The tidal spring bath uses well water from near the coast and contains dissolved substances at 32.3g/kg, almost the same as seawater, which is nearly four times the concentration found in human body fluids. Even among the nation's most renowned hypertonic hot springs, it's rare to find levels exceeding 20g, meaning the tidal spring bath is far more powerful than typical saline springs. The artificial carbonated spring is moderately warm, allowing for long soaks, and gradually, carbon dioxide bubbles begin to form on your skin. The sauna has three levels, with the top level being quite hot, and the cold plunge pool is deep and just right. The open-air area has plenty of chairs for enjoying the fresh air, which is great as it provides a space to relax without getting wet, even in the rain. While not necessarily a large facility, the rest area includes separate tatami mat seating areas for men and women in addition to the usual relaxation spaces, and the dining area also offers various table seating options as well as raised tatami seating areas, making the overall facilities quite comprehensive. The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes at reasonable prices. This time, I enjoyed the liver and chives set meal and a side dish of negitoro (minced tuna with green onions). Considering it's not a hot spring, it might seem a little pricey, but I think the facilities are worth the price.

This is a bathing facility. It is a 5-minute drive from Otsuchi IC on the Sanriku Expressway, or a 10-minute walk from Otsuchi Station on the Sanriku Railway Rias Line. The facility has a bathhouse, a rock bath, a restaurant, a rest area, and a shop selling bathing goods. I went there with a friend to try the sauna. The bathhouse had a carbonated spring bath, a tide bath, a sauna, a cold bath, and an open-air bath. The open-air bath had chairs and benches for post-processing, and a reclining bath for lying down. The sauna has three levels and can accommodate about 15-18 people. I went on a weekend afternoon, and it wasn't very crowded, so I was able to enjoy the sauna without having to wait. The sauna temperature was just right, and the cold bath was nice and cool. There was also a jar of salt in front of the sauna room, so we could rub salt on our bodies before enjoying the sauna. It seems they hold loyly events regularly. The loyly isn't self-service or automatic, but rather appears to be performed by staff at set times. The baths weren't too hot, making them easy to get into. I particularly liked the saltwater bath, which, while not very hot, still warmed me up nicely. However, the baths were quite small, and it seemed like it might be difficult to get in when it was crowded. The sauna was also well-equipped, making this a rare bathing facility with a sauna on the coast. I recommend it.

Since there are no hot spring facilities nearby, this is very helpful. It offers everything you need, from carbonated springs and salt baths to saunas, cold baths, open-air baths, and reclining baths, and the price of 660 yen is very reasonable. There's also a restaurant with a relaxing atmosphere, and the rest area is dark, so I was able to relax and unwind. What particularly caught my eye was the salt bath, labeled "tide bath." It's rare to find a bath with a high salt content, so this was great. The Kesennuma Plaza Hotel in Miyagi Prefecture has a salt bath, but this one was milder on the skin. There's a salt jar next to the shower, so you can rub salt into your body and massage it in. I was really pleased with the attentive service. The edge of the bathroom is slanted, so it's just the right size to rest your head on while in the bath, and I really appreciated this thoughtful touch. The cold bath was deep and very pleasant, but the drain was quite loud, which was a bit of a surprise. This is a hot spring facility I'd definitely like to visit again, so I'd recommend it to everyone.

I thought it was a natural hot spring in Otsuchi Town, but it turns out it's a bathing facility that uses natural water. If I remember correctly, it's a new bathing facility that opened around 2019. I've been visiting Otsuchi Town frequently since 2013, when the area was washed away by the tsunami and turned into a horrific sight. I'll never forget that scene. This facility was built on the site of the tsunami. I'd wanted to go many times, and although I'd passed by, my schedule never quite fit it in. This time, in October 2025, I finally made my first visit. It's not a hot spring, but the water was smooth and refreshing. The bathtub was spacious, so I was able to spend a relaxing time there. There's also a spacious rest area and a restaurant, so it's a facility where you could easily spend the whole day relaxing. They also apparently sell oyaki from Irohado in Nagano Prefecture. They're delicious, so you should definitely buy some. By the way, what does "Masuto" mean in the store name? It's a name you see quite often in Otsuchi Town...

The lights are dim, making it perfect for relaxation. - The hot springs include a sauna, carbonated spring, saltwater bath, and open-air bath. - It was a little crowded when I visited on January 3rd. However, I was able to relax and enjoy the baths.
