Matsunoyama Onsen Izumiya

I returned for a one-night stay the day before New Year's Eve. This has been my favorite hot spring inn for about two years. The reason is as other reviewers have said, with comfortable bedrooms with Simmons beds, five rooms with kotatsu tables, and five family baths. Three of these are open-air baths and come with clean shower booths. Every bath and room was clean and impeccable. And the warmth and consideration shown by the hosts and their families, while maintaining a sense of distance, makes Matsunoyama Onsen, one of Japan's three great medicinal hot springs, perhaps even one of the best in the country. The food isn't as large as typical ryokan meals, and the rich flavor of the carp soup is particularly noteworthy. And needless to say, the spring water, one of Japan's most famous, doesn't catch cold after bathing, and it had an amazing effect: internal bleeding disappeared after just four baths in one night. It's truly a hidden hot spring, as you'd expect from the Uesugi family. I don't need a fancy entrance or a hostess dressed in an expensive kimono to greet me, but I want to be able to let my family in without waiting when they want to, and enjoy a good night's sleep in a warm, fluffy bed with a feather duvet. That's all there is to it! I also liked that I could adjust the pillow settings.
This inn had good reviews, so we decided to stay there for my husband's birthday. We were very satisfied with the result. The number of rooms and private baths was the same, so we were sure to be able to use one, and the space was luxurious. It was also very convenient that you could see at a glance whether the bath was in use or not. The inn's minimalist approach was great, so once you entered your room, you could fully relax. The kotatsu table was also great. It was also nice that there was a support pillow on the floor so you could adjust the pillow height. They said there was no chef, so I was wondering what the food would be like, but they had a selection of healthy local dishes, including carp soup and carp sashimi. The inn's official website says that carp dishes can be changed with advance notice. Additional dishes are also available. It's a good idea to check the official website before booking. It was a very satisfying overnight trip, and I would definitely stay here again.
Dinner was absolutely delicious. Even the simple menu items were carefully prepared and I was very satisfied. I enjoyed every bit of the meat burger, right down to the juices. The bath may not be suitable for people looking for something like a large public bath, but I was looking for a relaxing bath by myself, so I was very satisfied. As for the room, I booked the Matsunoyama Tanami plan with Onsen Musume, and it came with a tapestry, a portrait panel, and merchandise, so I felt very comfortable in the beautifully appointed room. The offering corner in the great hall made me laugh. I really regret getting a plan without breakfast this time. Next time, I'd like to have a good breakfast before I go home. That was what I thought last year, but this time (2025), I did have a good breakfast. Thank you for the salted rice ball. It was very delicious. The hotel was full of great service and I was very satisfied with my stay. Thank you very much. I'd like to come again.
I had a relaxing and comfortable two days with my family. The cuisine, featuring local ingredients, was delicious, and we enjoyed a wonderful meal. I also appreciated the fact that there were five private hot springs, allowing us to relax and unwind without worrying about the surroundings. Even among the Matsunoyama hot springs, I found this one particularly charming and quiet. I sincerely appreciate your thoughtful consideration. I would love to stay here again if I have the chance. Family, one life, two days, travel, travel, travel, travel, travel, get to know the land, live in the countryside. When it comes to food, it tells you how to use it, it tastes beautiful, it tastes good, and it tastes good. 5つの貸切温泉があり、周りを気にすることなくく族だけでゆったりとぎごせたのもしかったです。 When you reach the bottom of the mountain, you can feel the wind and emotion. Let's do it, listen to it, listen to it, feel it, feel it, feel it, feel it, feel it, feel it, feel it, feel itす。また機会がありましたら、びお世話になれれば幸いです。
A colleague from work also likes Matsunoyama Onsen, so we visited Izumiya together. ① There are five hot springs in total, all of which can be locked from the inside. There are three open-air baths and two indoor baths, and you can tell which ones are in use from the outside. My favorites were the warmer indoor bath and the open-air bath with natural hot spring water, so I was greedy and took in both. ② We booked our room the day before. The inside of the inn was very quiet. It was a nice room with a bed, and I had a very comfortable stay. ③ The food was mountain village cuisine. Although not flashy, the food made the most of the flavors of the ingredients and was very delicious. There were so many dishes that I couldn't finish it all. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious.
